POSITION SUMMARY:  

Manages one or more manufacturing processesAssists with equipment selection, design, planning and layoutDesign and implement process flows to accommodate new productsEnsures production follows appropriate workflow and assembly methodsHires, schedules, and trains production staffManages temporary labor agenciesEnsures manufacturing performance and quality goals are metAdministers and maintains policies to ensure physical safety of all property and assets owned by the organizationMay communicate with law enforcement on security matters. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

 

  • Lead manufacturing process to achieve company goals. 
  • Direct staff of Production Supervisors, Foreman, and hourly employees. 
  • Manage process flow to meet daily customer orders--clearly communicate daily progress with support groups.  Develop contingency plans during breakdowns that will ensure order fulfillment. 
  • Manage raw material usage--establish goals and communicate performance.  Design and implement processes and procedures to continuously improve performance.  
  • Manage all costs associated with manufacturing process -- ensure budgeted standards are correct and are met. 
  • Manage Job Safety Analysis process--ensure that JSA's are reviewed, updated and share with employees. 
  • Manage Food Defense Process-- ensure that FDA Food Protection Plan guidelines are met. 
  • Manage Temporary Staffing Agencies-- establish procedures to control the use of temporary labor from multiple agencies.  Manage the daily usage and reporting of temporary labor hours.  Ensure labor expenditures are accurate and within budget.   
  • Manage and ensure product quality and customer satisfaction -- constantly interact with QA and customers to ensure product meets specification and customer needs are satisfied. 
  • Manage statistical process control--maintain SPC process.  Develop and implement SPC charts for all products.  Utilize statistical analysis to determine process capability and attribute performance. 
  • Implement cost savings projects--submit cost savings projects that reduce the cost of goods manufactured. 
  • Establish new product labor and ingredient usage standards--accurately calculate and communicate labor and material budget standards for all products. 
  • Establish packaging requirements in terms of material composition and size. 
  • Design new process flows to accommodate new product development--utilize experience to develop efficient and cost-effective process flows for new products.  This includes equipment selection and line modifications.   
  • Enforce company policy-- ensure company policies are communicated and enforced. 
  • Enforce employee policy--ensure employee rules are enforced and discipline is carried out fairly and consistently.   
  • Ensure employee Union contract is followed -- interact with Union representation and shop steward in regard to grievances and employee policy. 
  • Communicate and interact with support groups--maintain open and productive lines of communication with all support groups.   
  • Employee is responsible for following (and/or implementing/supporting/maintaining) Good Manufacturing Practice, Food Defense, Food Safety and SQF programs. 
  • Employee is responsible for all other duties as assigned by management. 
  • In the absence of the Production Manager, the Plant Manager will cover. 

 

 

 

 

COMPETENCIES:  

To perform this job successfully, Production Manager must be self-motivated, able to problem solve, detail-oriented, and able to stay on task. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.  

 

  • Excellent organization and time management skills. 
  • Must be a self-starter and be able to accomplish a versatile and evolving workload.  
  • Excellent in all forms of communication.  
  • Skilled at PowerPoint design and ideation.  
  • Innovative, problem solver, flexible, and able to juggle multiple priorities. 
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to multi-task, prioritize, and adapt well to change.   

 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • BS/BA degree preferred not required.  
  • minimum 5 years food manufacturing experience. 
  • minimum 5 years managerial experience 

 

 

TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS: 

  • 10%  

US Salary Pay Range

$95,000 - $105,000 USD
