The Production Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the safe and efficient operation of production and packaging lines, ensuring that only products meeting company and consumer specifications reach the end consumer. The Production Supervisor supports line leads by assisting with personnel training and works closely with the Production Manager to maintain an organized department and ensure production schedules are met. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:  

  • Ensures that product meets specification requirements. 
  • Addresses equipment issues or product specification deviations per Mixing Supervisor’s instructions. 
  • Performs pre-op start-up procedures to ensure that oven and fryers are clean and ready for use. 
  • Employee is responsible for reporting food safety and quality issues to Lead Packer, Supervisor, or Production Manager in his/her respective department. 
  • Follows J&J Snack Food’s Food Safety Plan (FSP), the Safe Quality Food (SQF) Program, the Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and the Good Documentation Practices (GDPs). 
  • Follows all OSHA safety rules and all food safety laws and regulations.  
  • Maintains and records correct temperatures and pressure according to product specifications. 
  • Completes oven/bake time work sheets and records moisture levels. 
  • Troubleshoots with leads and maintenance for any persistent major problems with the line. 
  • Make any adjustments to the line per instructions by an authorized manager or supervisor in the department. 
  • Updates production records and forwards records to production office. 

 

COMPETENCIES:  

  • Proven experience as Production Supervisor or similar role 
  • Experience in using various types of manufacturing machinery and tools 
  • Advanced skills in MS Office 
  • Organizational and leadership abilities 
  • Communication and interpersonal skills 
  • Self-motivated with a results-driven approach 
  • Problem-solving skills 
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules.  

Ability to effectively communicate in English commensurate with the requirements of this position. 

 

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES  

  • Must be able to work with limited supervision.   
  • Be able to follow written and verbal instructions.   
  • Must understand the operations from mixing to baking to recognize problems that can occur and take quick corrective action. 
  • Must be knowledgeable in GMPs’, HACCP, SOP’s, sanitation practices, & Product Trace & Recovery pertaining to the food industry. 
  • Must be able to do basic arithmetic. 

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:  

  • Degree in a technical, engineering or relevant field will be an advantage OR HS diploma AND 2-4 years relevant experience in a manufacturing environment in a supervisory role.

US Salary Pay Range

$60,000 - $70,000 USD
