As a Team Lead, Analytics Engineer, you will be leading your team of analytics engineers  driving operational excellence, innovation, and continuous improvement. This role is responsible for enabling data-driven decision-making across the organization by transforming raw data into well-structured, accessible, and trustworthy datasets. You will ensure best practices in data modeling, data transformation methodologies, and performance optimization, while also collaborating closely with data analysts, analytics engineers from other data teams, and other business stakeholders. In addition to hands-on technical leadership, this role involves mentoring team members, participating in shaping the analytics engineering strategy, and driving continuous improvements in data quality and accessibility.

Note: As a global company with employees and clients outside of Quebec, fluency in English as a working language is required for this position.

What you'll be responsible for?

  • Project Execution: Lead and guide the team in executing complex data initiatives, ensuring alignment with team goals and contributing to broader organizational objectives in collaboration with Product.
  • Team Performance & Optimization: Drive efficient delivery by promoting best practices in system design, operational processes, and team workflows. Encourage a continuous improvement mindset within the team.
  • Roadmap Contribution & Monitoring: Collaborate with Product and other teams to contribute to roadmap definition and validation. Monitor the team's progress against timelines.
  • Blocker Resolution: Identify and resolve blockers impacting the team's ability to deliver. Step in to provide hands-on support when necessary. Manage incidents within the team's scope.
  • Cross-Team Collaboration: Participate in meetings, reviews, and design sessions involving other teams. Share best practices and contribute to larger data initiatives. Advocate for data quality within the team and with collaborating partners.
  • Personnel Support & Growth: Mentor and coach individual contributors on the team (up to senior analytics engineers). Support their professional development and contribute to performance feedback. Participate in hiring activities.

What you'll be bringing to the team?

  • Minimum of 3-5 years of progressive experience in analytics Engineering or a closely related data engineering role.
  • Strong understanding of data warehousing principles, data modeling techniques, and ETL/ELT processes.
  • Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining data transformations and data models using tools like dataform (or dbt), with specific experience in GCP preferred (BigQuery, Dataform, Dataflow, Vertex AI).
  • Proficiency in SQL and at least one programming language (e.g., Python, Java, Scala).
  • Experience working in an agile development environment.
  • Familiarity with data governance and data quality principles.
  • Prior experience leading or mentoring junior team members or projects is highly desirable.
