Product Quality Intern (Spring or Summer 2025)

The Product Quality Internship provides an excellent opportunity for hands on experience developing process flow mapping of manufacturing operations and the field returns process. In addition, there will be a strong analysis component with a focus on creating actionable reports and recommendations from raw data. Additional activities will include system and sub-assembly level testing on Locus Robots for failure analysis to provide data to engineering for long term improvements of the robots. This is a hybrid position requiring a minimum of 3 days onsite at our Wilmington, MA headquarters.  

Responsibilities

  • Assist field return process of critical components based on age or defect, working with Manufacturing, Order Management, Procurement, and Suppliers.
  • Work with the Quality Team to develop and maintain supplier and field quality data for key investigations.
  • Assist in maintaining process flow diagram and control plan for the Origin 2 robotics unit at our contract manufacturer and Locus Robotics.
  • Learn various test methods to help diagnose failure modes of robot’s critical control systems, the unit’s on-board computer, obstacle detection, cameras, and drive sub-assemblies.
  • Use diagnostic failure data to identify opportunities of improvement in the sub-assemblies and design of the robot.
  • Support other projects, such as Vector, ESG, and QMS, as necessary to help the Quality Team.

Qualifications

  • Studying for a BS or MS in Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, Systems, or related engineering field. Relevant work experience is also acceptable, as well as degrees in Physics, Mathematics, and Statistics.
  • Desire to gain experience in assisting Locus Robotics with growing our quality systems to better define our operational systems and expectations with our suppliers.
  • Work successfully in a collaborative team environment.
  • Excellent English written and verbal communications skills and be able to communicate across all levels of the organization.
