Job Summary
Loenbro is looking for a motivated AI Engineer who is actively building, experimenting, and learning in the AI space. This is an excellent opportunity for someone earlier in their career who has already gotten their hands dirty — whether through personal projects, coursework, or professional work — and is excited to bring AI tools to life in a real-world construction and operations environment. You may start by building self-contained AI tools and workflows, growing into deeper system integration over time.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Design, build, and deploy lightweight AI-powered tools and applications to improve operational efficiency across construction and business functions
  • Partner with field teams, operations, and business stakeholders to identify manual, repetitive, or high-friction processes and translate them into AI-driven solutions
  • Develop and iterate on prompt engineering strategies to ensure consistent, accurate, and useful outputs from large language models (LLMs)
  • Prototype and test AI workflows using tools such as LLM APIs, automation platforms (e.g., Zapier, Make, Power Automate), and custom scripts
  • Build self-contained AI solutions (e.g., chatbots, internal assistants, workflow automations) that deliver immediate value without heavy system dependencies
  • Integrate AI tools with internal and third-party systems using APIs to enable scalable and connected workflows
  • Create dashboards, interfaces, or simple applications that allow non-technical users to easily interact with AI-driven solutions
  • Monitor, evaluate, and improve AI tool performance, including output accuracy, reliability, and user adoption
  • Implement guardrails and validation processes to mitigate hallucinations, ensure data integrity, and support responsible AI usage
  • Document workflows, tools, and processes to support scalability, maintainability, and team adoption
  • Stay current on emerging AI tools, platforms, and best practices; proactively recommend new technologies or approaches to the business
  • Support the evolution from standalone AI tools toward more integrated systems, contributing to long-term AI architecture and strategy
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, data, and business teams to align AI initiatives with broader technology and operational goals
  • Demo solutions, gather feedback, and rapidly iterate to improve usability and business impact

Minimum Qualifications

Required:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or related field
  • 2+ years of exposure to data-related work — whether through analytics, business intelligence, data entry systems, reporting, or supporting data-driven teams
  • 1+ year of active, hands-on experience working with AI tools, platforms, or APIs in a professional or personal capacity
  • A portfolio of AI projects is strongly preferred — show us what you’ve built: a workflow, an app, a chatbot, a prompt system, anything that demonstrates initiative and results

Preferred:

  • Working experience with Claude (Anthropic), ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, and/or Google Gemini
  • Solid prompt engineering skills — you understand how to structure prompts, iterate, and get reliable outputs
  • Experience building AI-powered tools or lightweight applications using LLM APIs (Claude API, OpenAI API, or similar)
  • Exposure to workflow automation platforms such as Make, n8n, Zapier, or Microsoft Power Automate
  • Familiarity with no-code/low-code AI tools and the judgment to know when to use them vs. write custom code

Race & Ethnicity Definitions

If you believe you belong to any of the categories of protected veterans listed below, please indicate by making the appropriate selection. As a government contractor subject to the Vietnam Era Veterans Readjustment Assistance Act (VEVRAA), we request this information in order to measure the effectiveness of the outreach and positive recruitment efforts we undertake pursuant to VEVRAA. Classification of protected categories is as follows:

A "disabled veteran" is one of the following: a veteran of the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service who is entitled to compensation (or who but for the receipt of military retired pay would be entitled to compensation) under laws administered by the Secretary of Veterans Affairs; or a person who was discharged or released from active duty because of a service-connected disability.

A "recently separated veteran" means any veteran during the three-year period beginning on the date of such veteran's discharge or release from active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval, or air service.

An "active duty wartime or campaign badge veteran" means a veteran who served on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service during a war, or in a campaign or expedition for which a campaign badge has been authorized under the laws administered by the Department of Defense.

An "Armed forces service medal veteran" means a veteran who, while serving on active duty in the U.S. military, ground, naval or air service, participated in a United States military operation for which an Armed Forces service medal was awarded pursuant to Executive Order 12985.

Voluntary Self-Identification of Disability

Form CC-305
OMB Control Number 1250-0005
Expires 04/30/2026

Why are you being asked to complete this form?

We are a federal contractor or subcontractor. The law requires us to provide equal employment opportunity to qualified people with disabilities. We have a goal of having at least 7% of our workers as people with disabilities. The law says we must measure our progress towards this goal. To do this, we must ask applicants and employees if they have a disability or have ever had one. People can become disabled, so we need to ask this question at least every five years.

Completing this form is voluntary, and we hope that you will choose to do so. Your answer is confidential. No one who makes hiring decisions will see it. Your decision to complete the form and your answer will not harm you in any way. If you want to learn more about the law or this form, visit the U.S. Department of Labor’s Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs (OFCCP) website at www.dol.gov/ofccp.
