Intern, Mobile Application Software Engineer, Summer 2025
As a Mobile Application Android Software Engineering intern, you will be a key member of our mobile development team. You will gain exposure to building high-quality features and will prototype new features while maintaining and improving existing features. Your contributions always include test coverage, and you are constantly looking to improve our application structure, performance, and reliability. You regularly contribute constructive feedback in peer code reviews. You understand how to work with and when to compromise with stakeholders to deliver a product that meets and exceeds customer expectations
Role/Responsibilities:
- Design and develop high-quality, high-performance software in accordance with industry best practices.
- Support integration of your software into the relevant system and wider vehicle/cloud ecosystem and validate performance.
- Diagnose, analyze, and resolve relevant issues based on testing, and user validation.
- Rigorously validate and verify the software functionality and reliability from the individual unit to the complete system.
- Develop software on a variety of hardware platforms ranging from microcontrollers to high-performance processors and cloud-based architectures.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Proficiency in Android app development using Kotlin.
- Sound understanding of Android frameworks, design patterns, and best practices.
- Experience in building and shipping high-quality, user-friendly Android applications using Kotlin.
- Experience building high-quality mobile apps from scratch to production and ongoing maintenance.
- Ability to collaborate effectively with a team of engineers, product owners, and designers.
- Experience working on large-scale apps with a focus on performance optimization and memory management.
- Effective problem-solving skills and a proactive mindset to identify and resolve issues.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, to communicate ideas and collaborate with team members.
- Experience with version control systems like Git.
- Familiarity with Agile development processes.
- Experience integrating third parties’ frameworks/libraries
Education:
- Field(s) of study: Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field
- Currently enrolled in a Bachelor’s, Master’s Degree program at an accredited university.
- Proof of enrollment in current or into next program (MS, PhD)
Nice to have:
- Experience with Bluetooth LE, NFC, or UWB
- Android Widgets, Wear OS
- Automotive experience
Program Information:
- Timing: May- August, or June-September pending class schedules.
- Duration of Internship: Our internship program is 12 weeks; the end date is flexible based on individual needs.
- Work Location & Environment: This position will be in Newark, CA, and is fully in-person. You must be prepared to start onsite for your first day of employment. The working environment will be a mix of lab & office work.
- Compensation: Student compensation is based on location and current degree level, non-negotiable ranging from $48 to $66.
- Relocation: May be provided on a case to case basis.
- Housing/Transportation: You must provide your own living arrangements and transportation in the local area.
- Background Check: All offers of employment are contingent on clearing a background check.
- Drug Screening: All offers of employment are contingent on passing a drug screen.
- Medical benefits: Dental, vision, and medical on day 1 for all interns working full-time.
- Visa Sponsorship: Lucid may but is not obligated to sponsor foreign national employees requiring company sponsorship for U.S employment authorization.
Base Pay Range (hourly)
$48 - $66 USD
