
Sr. Director, Direct Procurement
We are seeking an experienced and strategic Sr. Director of Direct Procurement to lead the sourcing and supply chain activities across multiple commodities supporting our Lucid Air, Gravity, and Midsize programs. This role is pivotal to ensure that we are sourcing quality suppliers, with aggressive pricing, and in developing relationships with suppliers in support of our commodity strategies. This role will support all commodities on the vehicle less Battery and Powertrain.
Key Responsibilities:
- Strategic Leadership:
- Develop and execute global procurement strategies for direct automotive materials.
- Manage three to four Director Reports, and an extended team of 75+ across California, Arizona, and Michigan
- Identify cost-reduction opportunities through strategic sourcing, supplier negotiations, and process improvements.
- Lead supplier selection, contract negotiation, and long-term supplier relationship management.
- Team & Process Management:
- Build, manage, and mentor a high-performing procurement team across multiple regions.
- Implement and maintain procurement policies, procedures, and best practices.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across the procurement function.
- Supplier Management:
- Evaluate and manage global supplier performance including quality, delivery, cost, and innovation.
- Lead risk assessment and mitigation strategies for the supply base.
- Partner with suppliers to drive innovation and meet changing business and market requirements.
- Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement:
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders including R&D, Engineering, Supplier Quality, Material Planning, Program management, Manufacturing, and Finance to support new product development and operational excellence.
- Act as a key advisor to executive leadership on procurement strategies and supplier issue resolution.
- Analytics & Reporting:
- Monitor and report on key procurement KPIs (cost savings, supplier performance, etc.).
- Conduct market analysis, benchmarking, and total cost of ownership evaluations.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Engineering, or related field; Master’s degree or MBA preferred.
- Minimum of 10–15 years of progressive procurement experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role within the automotive industry.
- Strong knowledge of global sourcing, supplier management, contract negotiations, and automotive industry regulations.
- Proven track record of delivering cost savings, supply chain resilience, and supplier innovation.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
- Familiarity with procurement software and ERP systems (SAP, Coupa, etc.).
Base Pay Range (Annual)
$233,100 - $341,880 USD
