
Sr. Manager, Manufacturing Technology Development
As an innovation catalyst within the Advanced Manufacturing Engineering function, the Senior Manager, Manufacturing Technology Development will lead end-to-end development, integration, and scaling of transformative technologies across all major manufacturing domain battery, drive unit, inverters, body shop, and general assembly. This leader will shape the technological future of our operations through cutting-edge innovation that drives throughput, quality, cost efficiency, and competitive advantage across our global footprint.
You will:
- Manufacturing Technology Road mapping & Strategy: Define and execute long-range plans for technology exploration and deployment—including but not limited to data analytics products, AI-based vision systems, robotics, and advanced control systems.
- Innovation Across Domains: Develop and scale emerging solutions for process automation, battery manufacturing, inverter assembly, material handling, and end-of-line testing, supporting future vehicle architectures.
- Data-Driven Manufacturing Systems: Lead development of smart manufacturing platforms powered by advanced analytics, Industrial IoT, AI, and MES integration that improve visibility, predictability, and decision-making.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Product Design, IT/OT, and Operations teams to ensure scalable deployment and validation of innovative technologies aligned with program and plant requirements.
- Advanced Robotics & Controls: Spearhead development of next-generation robotics systems, autonomous material delivery technologies, and high-efficiency industrial controls that enhance safety, productivity, and uptime.
- Benchmarking & Ecosystem Engagement: Build partnerships with startups, academic institutions, national labs, and technology vendors to scout emerging innovations and evaluate their feasibility in automotive applications.
- Proof of Concept & Industrialization: Manage early prototyping, piloting, and transition-to-production of innovative technologies, bridging the gap from idea to operational reality.
- Talent Development: Lead and mentor a multidisciplinary team of engineers and technologists. Build capabilities in systems engineering, digital manufacturing, and innovation management.
You bring:
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, STEM or related field, or equivalent relevant education and experience (Master’s a plus)
- 10+ years of experience in advanced manufacturing, industrial R&D, or manufacturing systems development (motor vehicle manufacturing experience preferred)
- Minimum of 5 years in a management or leadership role, including experience with direct reports and cross-functional team leadership
- Preferred: Experience with global manufacturing operations, advanced battery or powertrain technologies, or automotive electrification
- Proven history in deploying technology in production environments—robotics, vision systems, MES, AI/ML, controls, and/or powertrain processes
- Analytical thinker and direct leader, capable of driving long-term technology strategy while executing near-term deliverables
- Excellent communicator and influencer, with the ability to align technical and business stakeholders across geographies
- This role may require up to 25% of domestic and international travel to support technology deployment and collaboration across global sites
