Job Description:
We are currently seeking Logistics Operations Manager in Arizona. This position requires an experienced professional with the ability to manage multiple warehouses, cross docks, local shuttles, and partner with 3PL providers. The successful candidate will have spent considerable time launching new plants and/or new products in an automotive manufacturing environment. This position requires partnership with Supply Chain, QA/QC, Manufacturing, Packaging, Engineering, Finance, and Trade Compliance to implement new processes and manage changes. You Will:
- Manage Material Logistics for Arizona Operations with a primary focus on lineside delivery strategies to ensure timely and efficient material flow directly to production areas.
- Develop tools and metrics to monitor lineside material consumption rates, replenishment cycles, and delivery performance.
- Optimize lineside delivery strategies with an emphasis on minimizing lineside inventory, maximizing delivery precision, and supporting takt-time-based production flow.
- Align lineside logistics integration with production planning and scheduling, driving cross-functional collaboration to ensure seamless material availability at the point of use.
- Ensure sufficient lineside material staging and delivery capacity in alignment with production volume growth, while maintaining responsiveness and minimizing disruptions.
- Oversee teams responsible for lineside material handling, staging, sequencing, and replenishment, ensuring effective coordination with upstream logistics and internal warehouse operations.
- Anticipate challenges to lineside material flow and implement mitigation strategies that prevent disruptions and material shortages at the production line.
- Ensure compliance with logistics processes and regulations specifically impacting lineside material handling, traceability, and safety requirements.
- Define the scope and priorities of analytics teams to measure lineside logistics KPIs, including delivery precision, replenishment cycle time, and material availability.
- Define and implement site-specific material flow processes at warehouses and staging areas to support efficient lineside delivery, including the use of tugger routes and point-of-use racks.
- Design and implement material flow solutions that optimize speed, accuracy, and efficiency of lineside delivery while minimizing production disruptions.
- Develop and implement lineside replenishment processes, including kanban systems, electronic call signals, and automated delivery triggers.
- Identify operational processes and staffing needs specific to lineside logistics, including logistics coordinators, water spiders, and material handlers.
- Build and lead a team of lineside logistics professionals to support and continuously improve material delivery to production.
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Manufacturing, Planning, Sourcing, Engineering) to ensure lineside delivery aligns with takt time and lean production principles.
- Evaluate logistics service providers and internal processes based on their performance in supporting lineside delivery reliability and responsiveness.
- Implement customer-specific requirements, including lineside delivery reporting and custom KPIs for internal or external stakeholders.
- Design models to evaluate the efficiency and cost of lineside delivery programs, including labor utilization, equipment usage, and material flow timing.
- Integrate logistics systems with business platforms such as MES and ERP to track lineside material flow, replenish demand signals, and support real-time visibility.
- Analyze the financial impact of changes in material flow strategies, warehouse layouts, or delivery modes with specific consideration for lineside logistics cost and performance.
You Bring:
- 10 years’ experience with automotive logistics operations and process, preferably in a high-volume environment
- 10 years of related automotive industry experience and LEAN manufacturing
- 10 years’ direct leadership experience
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with success in working across organizations at all levels
- Ability to manage and prioritize multiple projects, effective project planning in terms of resources, strategies, cost, and time with the ability to meet project timelines
- Advance level computer proficiency in MS Office applications
You Have:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics Engineering (preferred), or related field. An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience may be considered
- LEAN, GK, or Six Sigma Certifications a plus
