Legal Counsel – Lyra Technology Group  

Lyra Technology Group is seeking a highly skilled and proactive Legal Counsel with expertise in employment law to join our growing team. In this role, you will provide legal guidance on all matters related to labor and employment law, help mitigate legal risks and support our HR and executive teams in fostering a compliant, fair, and inclusive workplace. 

Your work as a Legal Counsel will include the following duties:   

  • Provide expert legal advice on a wide range of employment-related matters, including hiring practices, compensation, performance management, workplace investigations, employee relations, terminations, and compliance.
  • Support the Human Resources team in developing and implementing policies, procedures, and training programs that align with current employment laws and best practices.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate employment agreements, independent contractor agreements, separation agreements, and related documentation.
  • Advise on employment issues in the context of mergers, acquisitions, restructurings, and other organizational changes.
  • Represent the company in employment-related disputes, including administrative agency matters (e.g., EEOC, DOL) and litigation, in coordination with outside counsel as needed.
  • Monitor changes in labor and employment laws and regulations, assess their impact on the company, and proactively recommend changes to ensure ongoing compliance.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders across departments to ensure consistent and legally sound employment practices.
  • Assist in managing external counsel relationships and legal spending related to employment matters. 

Our ideal Legal Counsel has the following qualifications: 

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and admission to practice law in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5+ years of legal experience, with significant focus on employment and labor law (in-house and/or law firm experience).
  • Deep knowledge of federal and state employment laws and regulations (e.g., Title VII, FLSA, FMLA, ADA, NLRA).
  • Strong legal drafting and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience supporting multi-state or international employment law matters is a plus.
  • Experience working in a corporate legal department or advising corporate clients. (Preferred)
  • Familiarity with employment law considerations in hybrid/remote work environments. (Preferred)
  • Experience handling or advising on internal workplace investigations. (Preferred) 

The targeted base compensation for this role is $200,000- $250,000 per year and the position will be based out of Chicago, Illinois.
