Software Engineering Manager

Minitab is expanding their Software Engineering Management team at their State College, PA office headquarters.  We are seeking a leader that will facilitate the continued development of our Engineers and continue to drive a culture of learning with commonly understood and practiced engineering methods; will ensure effective communication within and across project teams and identify and remove barriers to efficient product development; evaluate and implement development best practices which support product quality, scalability and maintainability and provide key input into planning activities related to the direction of Software Engineering, including strategic, operational, and product planning. 

This is a team that takes pride in the maintainability and quality of their code bases, and are constantly looking for the best ways to develop applications and features that give customers the best user experience. They thrive on collaboration and working together as one team, and we are seeking a leader that is just as passionate about our vision for delivering outstanding products to our customers.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Sciences and Technology or a closely related discipline desired. 
  • Minimum of 5 years of technical experience designing and developing technical solutions that are robust, scalable, and highly performant in a commercial software environment. 
  • Minimum of 2 years people leadership experience required. 
  • Experience across desktop, web, and cloud-based solutions desired. 
  • Experience with Agile/Scrum Methodologies required. 
  • Proven experience managing technical compliance issues including security and accessibility desired. 
  • Proven experience with the internationalization and localization of applications desired. 

Technical knowledge and expertise across several of the platforms and technologies below: 

  • Object oriented design/programming, design patterns, architectural patterns. 
  • Microsoft Windows and Linux Operating Systems. 
  • Programming languages including C++, C#, Python, PHP 
  • Web development technologies such as HTML/CSS and JavaScript and web frameworks such as React, Vue.js, .NET Core and Node.js
  • Container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes, Docker Swarm, or Amazon ECS.  
  • Cloud platform technologies such as Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud. 
  • Test driven development and use of automated testing tools and strategies.
  • Relational database technologies like MySQL.
  • ETL (Extract-Transform-Load) tools (e.g., Informatica, Talend, Pentaho). 
  • Spring, Hibernate, REST Services - API’s. 
  • Continuous delivery and deployment. 
  • Knowledge of statistics and machine learning.

This position position is 100% in office Monday - Friday.
