Senior Front-End Web Developer

 

Minitab is looking for a high performing Senior Front-End Web Developer to help build and improve Minitab’s global web presence.  The ideal developer will demonstrate a high level of autonomy, professional curiosity, effective communication and collaboration skills, and a dedication to resolving technical problems to improve our marketing websites and the processes that support them.

 

You’ll support our Marketing content team in continuous site updates to deliver feature releases and marketing initiatives using our Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service content management system. You’ll participate in code development for new website features, working closely with our regional Marketing Directors to understand requirements and provide guidance on implementation. You’ll maintain and review site health, security, and compliance through proactive monitoring and issue resolution.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide primary support for Minitab’s global websites by delivering assigned tasks on time and taking ownership of task completion and developer quality review.
  • Work independently to proactively identify, investigate, and resolve complex bugs with limited supervision.
  • Research, prototype, and implement front-end code for multiple development projects in the Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service environment, considering security, maintainability, scalability, performance, and documentation, while creating innovative solutions to achieve Marketing goals.
  • Participate in an iterative design and implementation lifecycle with Minitab’s Marketing team and outside design firms, providing critical technical implementation and feasibility evaluation for the team.
  • Provide technical oversight and execution of front-end and back-end functionality across Minitab’s global web properties, and configure third-party web platforms (CMS, Event Management and ECommerce) using Minitab’s web design standards so that our brand and style systems are implemented consistently across our sites.
  • Understand Minitab’s business operations, business rules, strategies and goals in the context of Minitab’s corporate strategy and global operations requirements.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES

Continue to expand your level of domain knowledge and development skills in one or more key technical areas and function as a resource for others in the department working in those areas.

Serve as backup for other web developers and participate on project teams to support our global websites.

 

EDUCATION, KNOWLEDGE, AND EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in front-end engineering, modern Web frameworks and libraries, and architecting and deploying complete web site delivery solutions.
  • Fluency in front-end technologies such as HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and CSS/JavaScript frameworks (Bootstrap, JQuery, React).
  • Generalist skill set, able to work comfortably on front-end or back-end problems.
  • Working experience with at least one well-known CMS platform. Experience with Adobe Experience Manager a bonus.
  • Experience in implementing responsive design patterns along with mobile performance and optimization strategies.
  • Proficient understanding of cross-browser compatibility issues and standard resolution strategies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a knack for explaining complex technical concepts to marketers, designers, and other stakeholders.

 

The following are also desirable:

  • Experience with source control systems such as git or Team Foundation Server.
  • Experience with Java and/or component-based web content management.
  • Experience with Google Tag Manager or Adobe Analytics and Adobe Data Collection.
  • Experience with localization processes and strategies.
  • Awareness of privacy and personal data protection regulations (GDPR, CCPA) along with techniques to implement and maintain site compliance.
  • Experience with Apache or IIS rewrite strategies.
  • Working knowledge of Photoshop.
  • Experience with standard design and prototyping applications like Figma.

 

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

  • Ability to work well in a team of skilled software, marketing, and design professionals, with the ability to build consensus for new practices and technologies.
  • Ability to learn new technologies quickly and independently to discern their relevancy, applicability, and value to Minitab.
  • Ability to demonstrate initiative and solve moderate to complex technical problems.
  • Ability and desire to lead small teams and projects, and to mentor other Web Content Management developers.
  • Ability to speak, read, write, and understand the English language.

This position will be onsite in Chicago, IL and will be eligible for hybrid after onboarding is complete.
