Team Lead, Business Development
The Team Lead, Business Development will support Minitab’s growth by coaching and growing the Business Development Representative (BDR) inbound team, surpassing pipeline and revenue targets and building strong relationships with key stakeholders across the organization.
The successful candidate will set a daily example for the BDR team and others at Minitab by demonstrating integrity, a strong work ethic, grit, perseverance as well as commitment to self-improvement. A genuine desire to help support others, humility, and willingness to learn from colleagues at all levels is essential for success in this role.
Responsibility Summary:
Coaching the Inbound Team:
The Business Development Team Lead is responsible for developing, training, and mentoring BDR team members to create a high-performing sales unit. This role involves regularly meeting with individual BDRs and the team to foster sales skills, build customer persona knowledge and industry awareness, improve product expertise, and ensure effective use of the tech stack.
The Team Lead will assist BDRs with pre-call planning, participate in selected calls, and conduct debrief sessions to refine strategies. They will oversee the team's efficiency and volume of work, encourage professional growth by developing communication and self-awareness, and facilitate career development opportunities for team members.
Lead Qualification and Prospecting:
The Team Lead will guide BDRs in converting inbound leads (MQLs) to drive pipeline growth. They will develop and refine best practices for lead qualification, ensuring timely and efficient follow-up. The Team Lead will also ensure that the team is allocating their time appropriately across different lead types. Regular collaboration with Marketing will be essential to enhance overall alignment and effectiveness. Additionally, the Team Lead will work closely with Direct Sales to optimize prospecting efforts for existing accounts, continuously reviewing and refining strategies as needed.
Continuous Improvement and Collaboration:
This position requires regular collaboration with Marketing, Sales Leaders, Sales Operations, Solutions, and Customer Success teams to ensure effective cross-functional alignment.
A key focus is maintaining high-quality call notes to facilitate seamless handoffs of qualified opportunities to Sales Representatives. The Team Lead will identify patterns and trends within the BDR team, in Marketing Qualified Leads, and the broader marketplace to drive continuous improvement. Ensuring the effective adoption and optimization of Tech Stack tools is essential, with adjustments made as needed for greater efficiency. Additionally, the role involves laying the foundation for BDR team expansion, ensuring scalable operations, and actively seeking feedback from the BDR team to implement improvements where appropriate.
