What you will be doing

The Technical Project Manager will support the technical planning, cost analysis, resource planning, and execution tracking for RDT&E, engineering, and program related efforts supporting defense programs. This role will work closely with Program Management, Engineering, Finance, Contracts, Manufacturing, Test, and other functional teams to develop detailed estimates, resource plans, technical schedules, and cost forecasts necessary to support program execution. The Technical Project Manager will provide visibility into the cost, resource, and schedule impacts of technical activities while helping cross-functional teams maintain alignment against established program objectives.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain detailed cost, schedule, and resource plans for engineering and RDT&E efforts, including labor/FTE requirements, materials, prototype hardware, testing, tooling, equipment, software, travel, and other project needs
  • Develop and maintain technical project schedules that capture milestones, dependencies, resource constraints, testing and qualification activities, and required completion dates
  • Develop cost estimates, budgets, forecasts, and budget-versus-actual analysis for assigned technical efforts, including visibility by Delivery Order, CLIN, work package, or other applicable level
  • Develop Basis of Estimates (BOEs) and supporting cost and resource inputs for proposals, Delivery Orders, contract modifications, and new technical scope in coordination with Engineering, Finance, Contracts, and Program Management
  • Track technical workstreams against established cost, schedule, and resource plans, identify variances and constraints, evaluate impacts from changing requirements or scope, and communicate risks, forecasts, and required actions to cross-functional stakeholders

You should have the following

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Business, Project Management, Finance, or a related technical or quantitative discipline; or 4–8 years of relevant professional experience in a related field in lieu of a degree
  • Experience supporting or leading engineering development, R&D/RDT&E, testing, qualification, production, or other technical development activities
  • Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining detailed project schedules, including milestones, dependencies, resource requirements, and schedule tracking
  • Demonstrated experience developing labor/resource estimates, project budgets, cost forecasts, or other quantitative project plans
  • Experience tracking cost, schedule, and resource performance and identifying or communicating variances, constraints, and forecast impacts
  • Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, including experience developing and maintaining cost, resource, budget, or forecasting models
  • Experience with Microsoft Project or another project scheduling/planning tool
  • Experience working cross-functionally with Engineering and other technical or operational teams to develop plans and support execution

Nice to Have

  • Experience within aerospace, defense, robotics, UAS, space, or another complex hardware development environment
  • Experience developing Basis of Estimates (BOEs) or supporting proposal, pricing, or Government contracting activities
  • Familiarity with FFP, CPFF, IDIQ, Delivery Order/CLIN structures, FAR cost principles, or Government proposal and pricing requirements
  • Working knowledge of hardware development activities such as prototype builds, EVT/DVT, verification, qualification, testing, and transition to production
  • Experience with NetSuite or similar ERP/financial systems, and/or PMP or a similar project management certification

US Salary Range

$111,500 – $156,000 USD

The salary range for this role is an estimate based on a wide range of compensation factors, inclusive of base salary only. Actual salary may vary based on (but not limited to) work experience, education and/or training, critical skills, and/or business considerations. Highly competitive equity grants are considered part of Neros' total compensation package.
