The Role
As a Senior Software Engineer at Nex, you will architect and build the scalable backbone of our global platform powering e‑commerce, subscriptions, user management, device pairing, content delivery, recommendations, support systems, analytics, and system updates. Your work will serve millions of connected devices and the operating systems behind them, shaping daily user experiences worldwide. You will partner with business, product, and operations, as well as a mission‑aligned external engineering team, to deliver backend infrastructure that is simple, robust, observable, and reliable at scale.

What You’ll Do
- Design, build, and operate scalable backend services for e‑commerce, subscriptions, accounts, device activation, content delivery, recommendations, support, analytics, and system updates.
- Build services that are reliable, fault‑tolerant, and highly observable, with strong monitoring, logging, and alerting.
- Develop robust APIs and backend logic using .NET (C#) and Node.js, with occasional Python.
- Implement and optimize authentication flows, including OAuth and device authentication.
- Use Docker and Kubernetes for deployment, scaling, and service management.
- Architect fault‑tolerant systems using queues, service‑oriented patterns, and message‑driven workflows.
- Guide and collaborate with a mission‑aligned external engineering team.
- Work closely with business, product, and operations to deliver customer‑obsessed solutions.
Must Have
- 5+ years building backend services for high‑traffic products.
- Strong expertise in .NET (C#), Node.js, and Python.
- Proven experience running highly observable services in production using Docker and Kubernetes.
- Experience with distributed systems, big data workflows, and database optimization across NoSQL and PostgreSQL.
- Deep understanding of ACID, idempotency, message delivery guarantees, and high‑performance concurrent access.
- Passion for deep technical challenges and raising the engineering bar.
- Ability to lead troubleshooting and postmortems during production incidents.
- Ability to work effectively with global teams across time zones.
- Proficiency in English communication.
Nice To Have
- Experience with authentication patterns including OAuth and device flows.
- Experience building fault‑tolerant systems using queues and service‑based or microservices architectures.
- Expertise with real‑time data streams and messaging tools such as Apache Kafka, SQS, or Pub/Sub.
- Familiarity with Firebase and Supabase.
- Knowledge of privacy, compliance, and information security best practices.
- Experience in startups, high‑growth environments, or consumer product companies.
