Software Developer (Print Services - Document Composition)

Position Overview:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and technically capable Software Developer to join our team as a Composition Developer. In this role, you will be primarily responsible for assisting in the design, development, and maintenance of customer-facing documents, including bills and delinquent statements using Inspire Designer. You will work closely with technical and business teams to ensure high-quality, compliant, and visually consistent document output.
Essential Duties:
- Assist in the design and development of billing and delinquent statement templates using Inspire Designer.
- Understand and interpret business rules and data to accurately reflect information in composed documents.
- Work with structured data (e.g., XML, CSV, flat files) and integrate it into dynamic document templates.
- Ability to independently troubleshoot and fix errors in programs, systems, and software.
- Collaborate with Implementation Project Managers, Java Developers, and Support Personnel to validate content, layout, and functionality, for an on-time delivery.
- Modify and maintain existing document templates to support business changes or customer requirements.
- Process change requests to meet customer needs.
- Participate in code and template reviews to ensure best practices in document development.
- Contribute to internal documentation and support processes around document composition.
- Assist in improving automation and efficiency within the document development workflow.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Preferred:
- Possess a strong attention to detail.
- Basic verbal and written communication skills.
- Basic level ability to organize and prioritize.
- Basic level ability to troubleshoot and assist in solving technical problems.
- Basic level ability to make decisions involving little to no error or risk.
- Background in software development or IT support.
- Background in report writing software.
- Basic knowledge of Java scripting.
- Experience with Inspire Designer or other document composition software.
- Prior experience in utility billing, financial documents, or regulated communication.
- Familiarity with print production workflows or output channels (PDF, print streams, email). Basic knowledge of programming logic.

Work Schedule:
- Hybrid from the following office location:
- Lake Saint Louis, MO
- Hybrid Schedule: Minimum of working 3 day per week out of an office location and ability to work up to all 5 days a week from an office location.
- Required Days from an Office Location: Tuesday and Wednesday - the third required day will be up to the candidate and their supervisor to choose

Desired Education:
- High School Diploma or equivalency required.
- Bachelor’s or Associate Degree in a Computer Science-related field or equivalent experience preferred.
