Role: Senior Copywriter
Location: Grand Rapids, MI – Hybrid/Onsite (2-3x/week)
About the role:
OLIVER is partnering with BISSELL to build a world-class in-house agency, redefining brand storytelling and marketing communications. We are seeking a Senior Copywriter to lead the creation of engaging, insight-driven content that enhances the BISSELL brand across multiple consumer touchpoints, including digital, print, video, CGI, social, POP, and CRM. This role requires a strategic thinker and masterful writer with the ability to craft compelling copy across a wide range of mediums, from video scripts to social posts to product messaging and web content. The ideal candidate will be able to adapt tone and style seamlessly, working closely with designers, strategists, and client stakeholders to develop high-impact content. Additionally, the role will involve exploring GenAI tools to enhance workflow efficiency, generate insights, and optimize content production. You will also serve as the primary point of contact for all brand creative copy, ensuring messaging remains consistent and aligned across product categories, marketing communications, and consumer-facing platforms. This includes web pages, digital creative, emails, point-of-purchase (POP) displays, product instructional videos, and user guides. What you will be doing:
- Develop strategic, audience-driven copy across multiple platforms, including digital, social, video, print, CRM, and retail activations.
- Master and maintain the BISSELL brand voice, ensuring consistency and engagement across all content.
- Create persuasive, action-oriented messaging for product storytelling, advertising campaigns, and promotional materials.
- Develop compelling scripts for video and motion graphics, bringing products to life through engaging narratives.
- Craft headline-driven social content, optimizing for engagement, clarity, and platform-specific best practices.
- Repurpose and optimize existing content for different formats and audiences, ensuring maximum impact.
- Collaborate with the global BISSELL organization to apply brand guidelines across all global content.
- Partner with Creative Directors, Art Directors, Designers, and Marketing teams to ensure all content aligns with brand and campaign objectives.
- Work closely with cross-functional teams, including product categories, digital marketing, and technical support, to deliver effective messaging.
- Lead the presentation of creative copy, gathering feedback and revising content to meet internal customer goals and marketing objectives.
- Work with the legal and compliance teams to ensure all marketing materials meet regulatory and brand standards.
- Research and integrate market trends, consumer insights, and product data to inform storytelling approaches.
- Contribute to content strategy development, ensuring messaging aligns with business objectives and consumer expectations.
- Stay ahead of emerging AI-powered content tools, leveraging GenAI solutions to enhance copywriting workflows and idea generation.
- Manage multiple projects simultaneously, ensuring content is delivered on time and meets the highest creative standards.
- Establish processes for managing and storing developed content and metadata, ensuring efficiency and accessibility.
- Continuously refine and evolve brand messaging and tone, adapting to market shifts and consumer behavior changes.
- Apply SEO best practices and digital content optimization strategies where applicable.
What you need to be great in this role:
- 6+ years of experience in copywriting for advertising, marketing, or creative agencies.
- Proven ability to write across multiple formats and channels, including digital, social, video, and print.
- Exceptional storytelling skills, with the ability to simplify complex topics into engaging, accessible copy.
- Strong strategic thinking and conceptual development abilities.
- Experience working as part of a traditional creative team (Copywriter + Art Director pairing preferred).
- Confidence in presenting ideas and creative rationale to both internal teams and clients.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively, thriving in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.
- Interest in AI-powered copywriting tools, with a curiosity about how GenAI can enhance efficiency and creativity.
- Experience in B2C marketing, consumer-facing communications, and retail advertising.
- Strong knowledge of digital copywriting best practices, including email, website, and ad copy optimization.
- Understanding of SEO principles and how they impact content discoverability and effectiveness.
- Proficiency in Microsoft 365 and Mac OS.
- Background in product marketing and consumer engagement strategies.
- Experience in public relations, corporate communications, or digital media.
- Familiarity with UX writing and content strategy for websites and apps.
- Experience in generative AI text applications to enhance content ideation and workflow efficiency.
- Strong visual storytelling instincts, working closely with designers to enhance the interplay between copy and visuals.
- Proven ability to lead diverse teams and manage complex projects with precision, efficiency, and creativity.
- Lead, inspire, and mentor project managers and staff to foster a collaborative, high-performance environment.
- Manage performance evaluations and development plans.
- At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $97,750.00 to $109,250.00. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER’s total compensation package.
