Role: Head of Social

Location: New York, NY (Hybrid) 

 

About the role: 

This is a unique leadership opportunity for a dynamic Head of Social to shape the future of social engagement for both a flagship global client and our wider North American agency operations. This role is strategically split: 50% dedicated to leading the social and influencer function within a new, cutting-edge, AIpowered integrated agency team ("Ice Cream Studio") based in North America for a portfolio of the world’s top ice cream brands; and 50% focused on driving social media excellence, innovation, and business growth across our diverse range of North American accounts in ice cream, food and beauty & wellbeing. 

You will be instrumental in leveraging generative AI where appropriate, championing socialfirst creativity, and inspiring teams to deliver impactful, awardworthy work that achieves significant client results. 

 

What you will be doing: 

We seek a highly accomplished and digitally savvy social media and influence leader with 10+ years of experience, ideally within agency settings. You have a proven ability to drive innovation, manage complex client relationships, and achieve significant commercial growth. We are looking for a strategic thinker with a passion for the transformative power of social media and influencer marketing, possessing a strong understanding of emerging trends and platform nuances. You excel at translating these insights into impactful client solutions and operational excellence. You are a collaborative and inspiring leader, adept at mentoring large teams (15+) and managing senior stakeholders. You are data-drivenresults oriented, highly creative, and possess a deep understanding of what makes brands and consumers connect in today's dynamic digital world. 

 

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • Lead, coach, mentor, and inspire social and crossfunctional teams across the US and Canada to consistently deliver exceptional social media work.   
  • Act as the key point of contact between client teams and agency stakeholders, championing innovative approaches.   
  • Provide line management to social and influencer leads, working in partnership with Creative, Managing, and Strategy/Performance Directors.   
  • Drive yearonyear growth in line with KPIs, effectively managing complex stakeholder relationships.   
  • Develop the network of social talent across our agency businesses, cascading strategies and surfacing great work. 
  • Partner with North American and local leadership to identify and capitalise on new social and influencer opportunities across markets.   
  • Oversee the development of comprehensive social and influencer marketing strategies that drive meaningful impact, leveraging both traditional insights and AIenabled analytics where relevant.   
  • Provide strategic social media consultancy to senior clients, developing impactful strategy documents and operational frameworks.   
  • Build and nurture strong client relationships, proactively addressing evolving business needs.   
  • Develop innovative, winning proposals that secure new business. 
  • Establish standardized best practices that promote service excellence, identifying opportunities for increased efficiency.   
  • Cultivate a deep appreciation for social media across the agency, ensuring teams possess comprehensive platform knowledge.   
  • Direct social media work across US and Canadian markets, ensuring cultural and market relevance.   
  • Educate clients and teams on the power of social media and creator programs to drive measurable brand impact. 
  • Champion the thoughtful integration of AI technologies in social and influencer marketing where appropriate.   
  • Stay at the forefront of emerging technologies and platform features and their practical applications.   
  • Drive innovation in blending human creativity with technological tools.   
  • Support scaling of proprietary technology and bestinclass tools across social media operations. 
  • Strategic Vision & Commercial Acumen: 10+ years’ experience in social media marketing with proven ability to translate expertise into effective, resultsdriven strategies and deliver profitable outcomes.   
  • Leadership & Operational Excellence: Successfully led teams of 15+, fostering collaboration and high performance while optimising workflows.   
  • Client Relationship Management: Exceptional ability to build client relationships, negotiate, and manage expectations across large North American teams and campaigns.   
  • Influencer Agency & Marketing Understanding: Deep understanding of the influencer marketing landscape with experience in influencer relationship management, content production, talent selection, contracting, data analysis and strategy.   
  • Innovation & Platform Knowledge: Strong understanding of social media trends and platform innovations.   
  • Creative Excellence: Highly creative with a firm grasp of the evolving influencer landscape and how to drive the best brand collaborations.   
  • Paid Social Knowledge: Solid understanding of paid social and media's role in amplification.   
  • Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills with fluency in English (French Canadian and/or Spanish a plus).   
  • DataDriven Approach: Experience in analysing performance and using data for strategy development and optimisation.   
  • Regulatory Awareness: Familiarity with North American advertising and disclosure guidance (FTC guidance in the US; Canadian codes) and platform rules. 
  • At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $199,750.00 to $223,250.00. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER’s total compensation package.
