Role: SEO/SEM Strategist 

Location: Toronto, Canada

 

About the role: 

You'll be the search expert behind integrated strategies that connect the right audience with the right content at the right moment. Working at the intersection of technical optimization, content strategy, and paid media, you'll translate search data and user behavior into campaigns that rank well organically and perform efficiently in paid channels. We're looking for someone who can balance long-term SEO growth with immediate SEM results, finding opportunities to maximize search visibility across the entire customer journey. Success means driving consistent growth in organic traffic and paid search performance while maintaining cost efficiency. 

 

What you will be doing: 

  • Develop and execute SEO strategies that improve organic search rankings, traffic quality, and conversion rates across key landing pages 
  • Create and optimize paid search campaigns across Google Ads, Bing Ads, and other platforms to drive qualified leads and conversions 
  • Conduct comprehensive keyword research and competitive analysis to identify high-value search opportunities and content gaps 
  • Collaborate with content and creative teams to optimize website content, meta descriptions, and landing pages for both users and search engines 
  • Build and maintain technical SEO health including site speed optimization, mobile responsiveness, and structured data implementation 
  • Transform search data and user behavior insights into actionable optimization strategies for both organic and paid channels 
  • Guide A/B testing for ad copy, landing page elements, and bidding strategies to improve campaign performance 
  • Monitor search algorithm updates and industry changes to maintain competitive advantage and adapt strategies accordingly 
  • Analyze performance across organic rankings, click-through rates, cost-per-click, and conversion attribution to optimize budget allocation 
  • Deliver search programs that improve key metrics including search visibility, traffic growth, lead quality, and return on ad spend 

 

What you need to be great in this role: 

  • A track record demonstrating successful SEO and SEM campaigns, with strong analytical and optimization skills 
  • Proficiency in SEO tools including SEMrush, Ahrefs, or Moz, plus Google Search Console and Google Analytics 
  • Experience managing paid search campaigns across Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, with understanding of bidding strategies and campaign optimization 
  • Understanding of technical SEO including site architecture, page speed optimization, and structured data markup 
  • Ability to conduct keyword research, competitive analysis, and search intent mapping to inform content strategy 
  • Strong analytical skills for interpreting search data and translating insights into actionable optimization recommendations 
  • Experience with landing page optimization, conversion rate optimization, and user experience principles 
  • Knowledge of search algorithm updates, ranking factors, and search engine guidelines 
  • Proficiency with Gen AI tools (ChatGPT, Claude, Copy.ai) to enhance keyword research, content optimization, and ad copy creation 
  • Agentic mindset: ability to break down complex search challenges systematically and identify optimal optimization approaches 
  • Experience using AI for content gap analysis, competitor research, and search intent interpretation 
  • Understanding of AI capabilities and limitations in SEO/SEM, with strong human evaluation of search strategy recommendations 
  • Ability to leverage AI tools while maintaining focus on genuine user value and search engine best practices 
  • Experience integrating AI workflows to improve content production efficiency and campaign optimization speed 
  • Experience with financial services, fintech, or regulated industries including compliance considerations for search marketing 
  • Knowledge of local SEO, international SEO, and multi-market search strategies 
  • Experience with shopping campaigns, display advertising, and YouTube advertising management 
  • Understanding of marketing attribution models and cross-channel performance measurement 
  • Familiarity with CRM integration, lead scoring, and marketing automation platforms 
  • At the time of this posting, the base salary for this position may range from $76,500.00 to $85,500.00. Individual compensation varies based on job related factors, including location, business needs, level of responsibility, experience, and qualifications. The range listed is just one component of OLIVER’s total compensation package.
