About the Role

As a Principal Data Architect, you will own the relationship of the Data Engineering team with core stakeholders; primarily Marketing, Revenue Strategy, and Product Analytics. Strong organizational skills and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders are essential. You also have a strong technical background in modern Data Engineering technologies and techniques.

The Data Engineering team at OpenTable supports a wide range of initiatives targeting diners, restaurants, and internal stakeholders such as:

• Delivering robust data sets to analytics and product teams across both restaurant and diner-facing product areas
• Partnering closely with Marketing on both B2B and B2C audience segmentation and campaign performance optimization
• Instrumenting diner and restaurant behavior to create actionable insights
• Ensuring Security and Data Governance across the company

Requirements

• Extensive Data Warehouse experience, particularly in data modeling, performance tuning, security, and governance
• SQL Expertise
• Python proficiency

Strong Preference

• Proven track record of project leadership and cross-team collaboration
• Experience coordinating with Product Managers and other stakeholders
• Familiarity with Airflow or similar orchestration tools
• Snowflake, Databricks, DBT

• OpenTable is the world's leading provider of online restaurant reservations, seating more than 25 million diners per month via online bookings across approximately 60,000 restaurants. It has a massive wealth of diner and restaurant data going back over 20 years.
• OpenTable fields a lean team, with just over 1,200 employees globally. The ML & Data Engineering team is currently fifteen people, but striving to grow.

As a Principal Data Architect, you will have the opportunity to work on a variety of interesting projects across the company and make a meaningful impact with access to extensive data. There are a variety of factors that go into determining a salary range, including but not limited to external market benchmark data, geographic location, and years of experience sought/required. The range for this Toronto, Canada based role is $170,000-$200,000 CAD.

In addition to a competitive base salary, roles are eligible for additional compensation and benefits including: annual cash bonus, equity grant; health benefits; flexible spending account; retirement benefits; life insurance; paid time off (including PTO, paid sick leave, medical leave, bereavement leave, floating holidays and paid holidays); and parental leave and benefits.
