ABOUT THIS ROLE
Orchestra is seeking a Communications Director to create and execute our PR strategy and secure earned media. This role will collaborate with the Vice President of Marketing Communications and leadership to craft messaging, cultivate relationships with reporters and drive the amplification of our brand narrative across media, events and strategic partnerships. The Communications Director will occasionally support Orchestra’s companies with ad hoc PR requests, such as drafting press releases and pitching reporters. The ideal candidate is hands-on, solution-oriented, collaborative and able to thrive at a fast-paced, growing company.
Role location: This role is based in our New York, N.Y. office on a hybrid basis. Orchestra staff are in office 3 days per week.
ACCOUNTABILITIES & QUALIFICATIONS
As a Communications Director, you will…
- Draft and distribute press releases to communicate key announcements
- Develop comprehensive media relations strategies and pitch reporters
- Identify and secure speaking and other thought leadership opportunities for the CEO to elevate his profile — along with the President, Chief Culture Officer and top voices
- Partner with the Vice President of Marketing Communications to prioritize tentpole events (i.e., Cannes Lions) and coordinate Orchestra’s participation and oversee external events calendar
- Manage media inquiries, schedule interviews and prep executives
- Outline goals and KPIs for PR efforts while tracking and reporting on performance
- Collaborate with team members on submissions for major awards
- Monitor emerging writers, outlets and media tactics to ensure Orchestra remains top of mind across a variety of earned channels
Essential Skills:
- 8+ years of experience in communications at an agency is preferred
- Ability to confidently and clearly communicate both verbally and in writing with varying levels of staff, clients and the media
- Excellent attention to detail and organization
- Ability to handle multiple assignments at once, rigorously prioritize and meet deadlines
- Comfortable working both autonomously and collaboratively
- Familiarity with PR and communications landscape
Preferred Skills
- Experience with event planning and management
- Established media relationships
- Experience with awards strategy and submissions
WORKING AT ORCHESTRA
Compensation philosophy: Orchestra offers competitive industry rate salary bands with the goal of retaining and growing talented individuals. We regularly review and adjust our compensation structure as needed to ensure equity across teams and levels.
Salary range (commensurate with experience and skills): $115,000-$140,000, plus eligibility for end of year bonuses based on firm, team and individual performance.
