We’re on a mission to improve lives through science, data, and design, and we’re seeking a Senior Hardware Reliability Engineer to strengthen and advance our testing and validation capabilities in Finland.

As a Senior Reliability Engineer at Oura, you’ll lead the definition, implementation, and continuous improvement of reliability and durability strategies for our hardware products and accessories. You will ensure that Oura devices meet the highest standards for robustness, longevity, and quality — from early concept phases through to mass production. This role is both strategic and hands-on, combining test method development, data-driven decision-making, and technical leadership.

Location: On-site in Oulu, Finland. The role includes frequent travel to other Oura sites and supplier locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and lead the definition, planning, and execution of reliability and qualification strategies for Oura’s hardware products and accessories.

  • Develop and validate advanced reliability test methods and standards tailored to wearable technologies and novel materials.

  • Plan, conduct, and oversee mechanical, environmental, and electrical stress testing to ensure product robustness and long-term durability.

  • Drive failure analysis and root-cause investigations, collaborating with design, materials, manufacturing, and firmware teams to implement corrective actions.

  • Define and manage reliability metrics, qualification gates, and data traceability across the product lifecycle.

  • Mentor and support junior engineers and technicians, promoting technical rigor, process discipline, and continuous improvement.

  • Partner cross-functionally with global hardware, firmware, and manufacturing teams to integrate reliability considerations early in the design process.

  • Manage external test labs and contract manufacturers, ensuring consistent test execution and data quality.

  • Analyze and interpret test data, communicate insights clearly, and influence design decisions through quantitative evidence.

Qualifications

Required

  • 7+ years of experience in hardware reliability, validation, or test engineering, preferably in consumer electronics, wearables, or compact electromechanical systems.

  • Proven ability to design, implement, and own end-to-end reliability frameworks and qualification plans.

  • Strong understanding of mechanical, environmental, and electrical stress testing (e.g., HALT, HAST, vibration, thermal cycling).

  • Demonstrated skills in root cause analysis, reliability modeling, and statistical problem-solving.

  • Experience working with global suppliers, external test labs, and manufacturing partners.

  • Excellent communication and documentation skills in English.

  • Self-driven, detail-oriented, and collaborative mindset.

Preferred

  • Background in wearable or small form-factor consumer devices with integrated electronics.

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Materials, or Reliability Engineering, or related field.

  • Experience leading cross-functional reliability initiatives and translating test insights into design and process improvements.
