Job Overview

 As a Senior Engineering Manager at Postman, you will lead and mentor engineering teams responsible for developing reliable enterprise SaaS solutions, focusing on public APIs, third-party integrations, and internal tooling platforms. You will work closely with cross-functional teams across different time zones, driving strategic initiatives to deliver robust, scalable, and high-quality software. You will also bring your technical expertise to oversee the full software development lifecycle and ensure the successful delivery of complex, large-scale projects, while enabling other teams across the organization to be more effective.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead Engineering Teams: Manage and mentor multiple engineering teams responsible for building and maintaining enterprise-level SaaS solutions with a focus on public APIs, integration frameworks for third-party developers, and internal tooling platforms.
  • Microservice Architecture: Drive the design and implementation of microservice architectures, ensuring that systems are decoupled, resilient, and scalable. Mentor teams on best practices for service design and communication patterns.
  • Internal Platforms & Tools: Lead the development of internal tooling and platforms to empower other teams, improve collaboration, and streamline operations across the company.
  • Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC): Oversee the end-to-end software development process, from planning and design to execution and maintenance, ensuring teams follow best practices and deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with product, design, and operations teams across different time zones to align on priorities, manage stakeholder expectations, and drive successful project outcomes.
  • Process Optimization: Improve development processes to maximize team productivity and efficiency while ensuring continuous integration, automated testing, and smooth deployment.
  • Customer Focus: Stay aligned with customer needs, advocate for product improvements, and ensure teams are building solutions that meet the needs of internal customers, third-party developers, and external partners.
  • Global Team Management: Coordinate and communicate effectively with remote and globally distributed teams, fostering a collaborative culture and managing time zone differences.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: 10+ years of engineering experience, with a minimum of 5 years in senior leadership or engineering management roles, preferably in an enterprise SaaS environment.
  • Microservice Architecture: Proven experience working with microservice architectures, including hands-on design, implementation, and management of distributed systems.
  • API Expertise: Extensive experience in developing, deploying, and maintaining public APIs, with a strong understanding of API security, performance, and scalability.
  • Integration Frameworks: Proven experience managing teams developing secure, robust integration frameworks or platforms for third-party developers.
  • Internal Tooling: Experience developing internal tools and platforms to enhance the productivity and effectiveness of other teams within the organization.
  • Technical Leadership: Strong technical background with hands-on experience in modern programming languages, cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure), and enterprise architecture.
  • SDLC Knowledge: Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, agile methodologies, CI/CD pipelines, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Global Team Management: Experience leading geographically distributed teams, navigating cultural and time zone differences with strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to solve complex technical challenges, anticipate potential issues, and proactively implement solutions.
  • Customer-Centric Mindset: Focus on building customer-facing solutions that meet business requirements, with a dedication to driving continuous improvement and innovation.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in API platforms, developer tools, or highly technical software products.
  • Experience in scaling SaaS solutions for enterprise customers.
  • Proven track record of delivering integration solutions and internal tooling that supports third-party developers and internal teams.

If the role is based in the greater San Francisco area, and the reasonably estimated salary for this role ranges from $243,638 to $286,632, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience. In addition to our pay-on-performance philosophy, we offer a comprehensive set of benefits, including full medical coverage, flexible PTO, wellness reimbursement, and a monthly lunch stipend. Salaries will vary outside of the listed metropolitan areas & the U.S.
