  • Location & Work Environment: Based out of our Monroeville PA campus with time split between office-based electrical design work and hands-on shop involvement to support design validation and learning

Duties and Responsibilities

As a Junior Electrical Designer, you will:

 

  • Design and draft electrical schematics, cabinet layouts, subpanel configurations, and bills of materials using AutoCAD Electrical or similar CAD software
  • Support the selection of electrical components for industrial control panels
  • Collaborate with engineers, project managers, and manufacturing teams to ensure designs meet project requirements
  • Learn and apply electrical codes and industry standards such as UL508A and NFPA70 (NEC)
  • Participate in design reviews and assist with continuous improvement of design standards and processes
  • Work closely with the shop floor to support design validation and gain hands-on system knowledge
  • Stay curious and engaged with new technologies, tools, and best practices in industrial automation

 

 

Experience and Qualifications
What You’ll Bring:

 

  • 2-year degree in Engineering Technology, Electrical Technology, Mechatronics, CAD/Drafting & Design, or a related field preferred but not required
  • Internship, co-op, academic project, or early professional experience related to electrical design or automation preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics
  • Familiarity with electrical panel components and basic wiring concepts
  • Exposure to CAD tools such as AutoCAD Electrical, SolidWorks Electrical, or EPLAN is a plus
  • Strong attention to detail and an interest in producing accurate design documentation
  • Comfortable working in a collaborative, team-oriented environment
  • Motivated to learn, ask questions, and grow technical skills over time
  • Ability to occasionally stand, walk, bend, and lift up to 50 lbs while supporting design validation, shop walkthroughs, and collaboration with manufacturing teams
  • Candidates with limited experience are encouraged to apply — hands-on training and mentorship are provided.
