Staff Accountant - Temp to Perm

As a Staff Accountant at ProKidney, you will play a crucial role in maintaining the financial health of our organization. This multi-faceted role will give insight into multiple areas of accounting. You will serve as primary contact for payroll processing during the Payroll Manager’s expected leave of absence. You will also work closely with other finance team members to ensure accuracy and compliance in financial transactions, back up to accounts payable, contribute to the monthly closing process, and support the company's overall financial operations.

Key Responsibilities:

Payroll:

- Primary contact for payroll processing, ensuring timely and accurate payroll execution during the Payroll Manager’s expected leave of absence.

- Maintain employee payroll records and ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll regulations.

- Assist in the preparation and processing of bi-weekly payroll, including deductions, benefits, and garnishments.

- Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll matters and resolve any issues promptly.

- Support the payroll team in preparing payroll reports and maintaining payroll documentation.

General Accounting:

- Assist with general ledger accounting, including journal entries and account reconciliations.

- Support the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.

- Participate in special projects and initiatives to improve processes and increase efficiency within the finance department.

 Accounts Payable:

- Process vendor invoices, ensuring accuracy and timely payments.

- Maintain vendor records and handle vendor inquiries and reconciliations.

- Verify and reconcile discrepancies between invoices and purchase orders.

- Prepare and process electronic transfers and payments.

- Monitor accounts to ensure payments are up to date and resolve any payment issues.

- Assist in month-end closing activities, including accruals and account reconciliations.

- Generate reports related to accounts payable and assist with audits as needed.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required.

- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in general accounting required.

- Experience in payroll processing.

- Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices.

- Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.

- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.

- Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information with integrity.

- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

- Experience with Paylocity

- Experience with SAGE X3

- Prior experience in a similar multi-faceted position is desirable.
