The Role

The Senior Manager, Systems (Pre-Sales) Engineering (SEM) – Italy is a business-focused, strategic leader responsible for driving pre-sales technical strategy, market expansion, and partner engagement. This role requires a deep understanding of business drivers, go-to-market strategies, and industry trends.

Reporting to the Director SE EMEA South, the SEM will lead a team of direct reports and indirect technical specialists. The ideal candidate will define and execute growth strategies, strengthen partner relationships, and align technical resources with sales objectives.

 

Key Responsibilities

Business Growth & Strategy

• Develop and execute a business plan for Italy, identifying growth opportunities in AI, Healthcare, Public Cloud, and Cyber Resilience.
• Align with market trends and EU funding initiatives
• Partner with sales leadership to ensure revenue targets and strategic priorities are met.

Partner & Ecosystem Engagement

• Build and strengthen relationships across the partner and channel ecosystem to drive business growth.
• Ensure partners act as an extension of Pure Storage, contributing to joint technical and sales initiatives.
• Identify new channel opportunities and collaborate with internal teams to expand adoption of Pure solutions in Italy.

Leadership & Team Development

• Mentor and develop a high-performing team of pre-sales engineers, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
• Define specialist roles within the team, optimizing technical expertise for market success.
• Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.

Sales Execution & Operational Excellence

• Ensure technical resources effectively support sales engagements, proof of concepts, and technical sales presentations.
• Track pre-sales engagement metrics and optimize sales performance.
• Gather and communicate customer feedback and market insights to product teams.

 

What You Bring to the Team

✔ 10+ years of experience in pre-sales engineering leadership within the IT industry.
✔ Strong business acumen and ability to develop and execute strategic business plans.
✔ Proven expertise in partner/channel management and ecosystem expansion.
✔ Deep understanding of AI, Cloud, Security, and Cyber Resilience trends.
✔ Experience leading and developing high-performing technical teams.
✔ Strong communication, presentation, and negotiation skills at executive and technical levels.
✔ Native/bilingual Italian and business-proficient English.
✔ Must be based in Milan or willing to relocate.
