Who we are looking for
We are seeking a Chemical Engineer to join our team and assist in designing, implementing, and enhancing a range of chemical processing equipment. Responsibilities for the role involve conducting research studies, proposing solutions, and supervising the implementation and troubleshooting of different processes. In the end, you will collaborate with a team of Engineers to find opportunities within our plants and supervise strategies to enhance efficiency and safety.
What you'll get to do
- Develop process flow diagrams (PFDs), piping and instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs), and heat and material balances.
- Create detailed engineering drawings and process models using CAD and simulation tools.
- Participate in design reviews, requirements gathering, and vendor coordination.
- Support and occasionally lead the development and writing of technical reports and project documentation.
- Participate in internal and client-facing meetings, support project proposals and estimates, and collaborate with a wide range of fields.
- Facilitate requirements gathering, concept & preliminary design, and vendor engagement.
- Collaborate with mechanical, structural, electrical, and controls engineers and designers, as well as fabrication and field service teams.
What you bring to the team
- 3+ years of relevant experience in industrial process equipment and/or capital project environments.
- Strong written and verbal communication, organization, and personal management skills.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
- Eager to learn and adapt in a fast-paced engineering environment; naturally curious.
- Experience with CAD software/tools; AutoCAD 2D/3D and/or SolidWorks preferred.
- Familiarity with process simulation software; ChemCAD is preferred.
- Familiarity with process diagramming and flowcharting tools, with a preference for Microsoft Visio.
- Experience gathering, documenting, and communicating technical project requirements.
- Experience estimating overall & engineering project costs.
- Ability to be on-site at our offices in Rochester, NY, and/or Rush, NY.
- Willingness to travel to client sites and suppliers as needed (typically <25%).
