Accounting Manager

POSITION SUMMARY
As an Accounting Manager, you will play a critical leadership role in maintaining the organization’s financial integrity by overseeing core accounting operations, including month-end close, reconciliations, payroll accounting, and regulatory compliance. You will partner closely with the Controller and Finance leadership to ensure timely, accurate, and compliant financial reporting across a multi-entity, fund-accounting environment. This role requires a hands-on leader with strong technical accounting expertise, exceptional attention to detail, and the ability to drive process improvements within a mission-driven organization supporting healthcare and senior services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Lead and manage the full month-end close process, ensuring all journal entries, accruals, and financial statements are completed accurately and within established timelines.
• Oversee and review general ledger activity, ensuring proper coding, accuracy, and compliance with GAAP and organizational policies.
• Perform and review complex account reconciliations (bank, balance sheet, intercompany, and sub-ledger), ensuring discrepancies are identified, researched, and resolved promptly.
• Manage all aspects of payroll accounting, including reconciliation of payroll reports to the general ledger, tracking of liabilities, and ensuring accuracy of wages, taxes, and benefit allocations.
• Administer and oversee employee garnishments, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, proper withholding, and accurate reporting.
• Partner with HR and Payroll teams to ensure alignment between payroll processing and financial reporting, including audits of payroll data and controls.
• Support audit processes (internal and external), including preparation of schedules, documentation, and responses to auditor inquiries.
• Ensure compliance with fund accounting standards, grant reporting requirements, and healthcare-related financial regulations.
• Develop, document, and improve accounting policies, procedures, and internal controls to enhance accuracy, efficiency, and scalability.
• Monitor and analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for cost savings or operational improvements.
• Supervise and mentor accounting staff, providing guidance, training, and performance management to build a high-performing team.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with department leaders to support budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning initiatives.
• Maintain compliance with all applicable regulatory requirements, including nonprofit and healthcare financial reporting standards.
• Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Controller or senior leadership.

• Pay Rate: $130K - $145K
• Hours: Full-Time 40 hours per week
• Shift Schedule: Days
• Days Off: Saturday & Sunday
• Working Days: Monday through Friday
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 5+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or managerial role.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP, payroll accounting, and financial reporting.
• Experience with fund accounting and/or healthcare or nonprofit environments preferred.
• Proficiency with accounting systems and advanced Excel skills.

• Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods.
