2024 Business Analytics and Data Engineering Internship

The Role

We are excited to offer an opportunity for a talented student to join the internship program at Schonfeld. You’ll spend your Fall semester with Schonfeld’s Business Analytics team where you will be immersed in our culture, working alongside talented professionals contributing to high profile projects as a Data Engineer.

What You’ll Do

The Business Analytics team at Schonfeld focuses on the discovery, interpretation, and communication of meaningful patterns in data to drive better decision making and problem solving. The team is responsible for data acquisition and processing using technology to solve business problems from stakeholders across the business such as risk, trading, accounting, operations, and business development.

In this role, you’ll gain exposure to using tools such as Python, SQL, KDB, and Power BI to transform and analyze data in a real-world environment under the mentorship of members of the team. The ideal candidate will have a proven ability to solve problems and create a positive impact on the team by improving data quality, streamlining manual processes, building reports, proposing analytics, and supporting our reporting infrastructure.

What You’ll Bring

  • Currently pursuing a Bachelors/Masters/Ph.D in Computer Science, Data Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or another quantitative field
  • Strong programming skills in Python and experience with data engineering tools and frameworks
  • Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational and non-relational databases.
  • Experience with Linux operating systems and knowledge of cloud computing platforms
  • Understanding of data modeling techniques and data warehousing concepts.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing requirements.
  • Interest in trading and hedge fund strategies

Our Internship

The Schonfeld internship provides students with a unique opportunity to experience Schonfeld, our work, our people, and our culture.

Each intern will work on a tailored project that will provide them with real world experience.  We provide all interns with a dedicated mentor and manager to help them navigate the internship successfully. Interns will also participate in our learning and development program, which aims to provide tangible skills training and education on various functions across the firm and in the workplace. Along with the hands-on guidance and support from managers and mentors, interns will participate in networking events, engage with our Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Alliance, attend panel discussions, and have many opportunities to get to know Schonfeld’s core values in practice.

The annual base pay for this role is expected to be between $100,000 and $120,000 which will be prorated based on internship start and end date. The expected base pay range is based on information at the time this post was generated. Actual compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on a variety of factors such as skills, qualifications and experience and level of education.
