What you’ll do

Become part of an iconic brand that is set to revolutionize the electric pick-up truck & rugged SUV marketplace by achieving the following:

The Director, Retail Operations is a strategic leader responsible for driving operational excellence across all retail sales and service channels. This role develops and implements strategies to enhance the customer experience, optimize retail processes, and drive sales and service growth. Working cross-functionally, the successful candidate will ensure a consistent, high-quality brand experience while achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) and operational targets.

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive retail operations strategy aligned with the Scout Motors overall business objectives and goals.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation to boost customer engagement and sales and service growth.
  • Oversee the daily operations of retail locations, ensuring adherence to brand standards and operational protocols.
  • Implement performance metrics and KPIs to monitor operational efficiency, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Streamline processes and introduce best practices to enhance the overall retail experience.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing team of regional managers and retail staff.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer-first thinking across all retail operations.
  • Collaborate closely with HR on recruitment, training, and talent development initiatives.
  • Work with the Strategy team to align retail operations with long-term business plans and market trends.
  • Partner with Customer Support to ensure seamless service delivery and proactive resolution of customer issues.
  • Coordinate with Legal to ensure all retail operations comply with applicable regulations and company policies.
  • Liaise with Finance to manage budgets, forecast demand, analyze sales trends, and optimize pricing strategies.
  • Collaborate with the Aftersales team on programs and tools to continuously improve retail service operations, ensuring smooth transitions from delivery to aftersales support and enhancing overall customer satisfaction.
  • Work with marketing teams to implement initiatives that boost loyalty and retention.
  • Manage the retail operations budget, monitor financial performance, and implement cost control measures.
  • Analyze sales data and collaborate with Finance and Sales Planning to refine pricing and promotional strategies.
  • Ensure all retail sales and service operations comply with regulatory standards and internal policies.
  • Regularly review and update operational procedures to maintain high standards of quality and safety.

Location & Travel Expectations:

  • This role is based Remotely in the United States. This role is not eligible for remote work in New York City.
  • Applicants should expect that the role will require the ability to convene with Scout colleagues in person and travel to participate in events on behalf of the company. 
  • Travel: up to 50% of the time. Passport will be required for potential international travel.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in relevant degree field.
  • Ability to travel up to 50% of the time. Passport required.
  • Minimum 8-10 years of experience leading, managing, architecting, and designing exceptional consumer experiences through a large retail network.
  • Background in retail automotive environment is preferred. At a minimum, the successful candidate will have 5+ years demonstrated experience in a leadership role responsible for retail strategies, operations and programs.
  • Excellent leadership and people management skills with a proven track record in developing high-performing large field teams of 50+.
  • Expert in driving execution of programs and initiatives that involve multiple, cross-functional stakeholders at a local, regional and global level
  • Develop and maintain excellent working relationships with all levels of management within and outside the company, particularly those at senior levels.
  • Plan, organize, and prioritize multiple assignments and projects often with very limited lead time.
  • Well demonstrated strategic and analytical thinking skills. Proven ability to create and lead execution of retail initiatives that lead to a competitive advantage in the marketplace.
  • Ability to take consumer insights and translate them into actionable consumer driven programs.
  • Proficient at making professional presentations to senior level executives in writing and orally.
  • Ability to lead and direct the activities of team members to achieve customer business objectives and team goals and to complete assignments within established time frames and specifications. The ability to develop tasks and work assignments, clearly define objectives, and give direction with applied knowledge of alternatives and decision-making experience to guide retail HQ and field teams.

Pay Transparency

This is a full-time, exempt position eligible to receive a base salary and to participate in an annual performance bonus program. Final salary offered will be determined based on factors including but not limited to the candidate's skills and experience. The annual performance bonus program is preset and not candidate dependent.

Initial base salary range = $180,000.00 - $225,000.00
