Safety and Security Manager
Salary Range: $72,500 – $80,000 based on experience
Position Description:
The Manager of Safety & Security directs the activities and operations of the security department and team; leads the team with a guest service approach as the first point of welcome for all guests and team members; establishes and maintains a training program that ensures the security and well-being of employees and visitors and the security of company/guest assets; manages and coordinates all organization safety activities and programs to ensure a safe, healthy, and accident-free work environment for all employees; develops and implements accident prevention programs.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Reviews, revises, develops, and implements security policies and emergency procedures; manages these programs to protect the facilities, guests, property, and employees.
- Directs or conducts investigations concerning security violations or infractions of company policy; coordinates with outside law enforcement agencies as needed; creates and maintains reporting procedures for all incidences.
- Develops, implements, and monitors IIPP and safety programs to reduce frequency of accidents and injuries; working closely with people operations to minimize overall accidents as well as workers’ compensation; recommending and/or coordinates corrective actions and developing company wide safety education programs.
- Establishes guidelines and standards for coordinating, directing, selecting, training, and supervising security staff and/or outside protective services.
- Hires, trains, supervises, motivates, and develops security team; manages schedules and workflow. Assigns duties and monitors quality of work; assures staff conforms to organizational policies and procedures and government regulations.
- Assists, advises, and guides all company departments regarding security regulations and procedures including but not limited to planning, directing, and implementing security systems such as electronic alarms, closed circuit surveillance, entry controls, ultrasonic motion detectors, and/or outdoor perimeter alarms.
- Develops and implements proper receiving and tracking of company and guest deliveries, ensuring the timeliness and security of deliveries to the intended party.
- Maintains current in security disciplines and awareness of changing industry standards or regulations; develops appropriate company safety policies and procedures in compliance with Riverside County, CalOSHA, and federal OSHA rules and regulations.
- Develops and maintains relationships with government and local industry security associates, fire marshal and law enforcement personnel; develops and maintains relationships with outside vendors and contractors; supervises and monitors fire prevention activities.
- Develops, implements, and monitors department budget; manages expenses within approved budget constraints.
- Develops and implements safety training programs designed to instruct employees in general safe work practices plus specific instruction regarding hazards unique to any job assignment; provides training in safety programs such as First Aid, AED, TIPs, Emergency Procedures.
- Identifies potential safety hazards throughout the property; report hazards offer recommendations for reducing them to Director of Engineering and Director of Operations.
- Coordinates with other departments on design and construction of new equipment, facilities, and work methods to ensure compliance with safety policies and regulations.

- Report all faulty equipment, supply needs, maintenance needs, safety hazards, injuries, and other concerns immediately to your supervisor
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent; bachelor’s degree (B.A./B.S.) in related field or equivalent a plus.
- At least four years related experience or equivalent, in law enforcement, private protection or corporate safety & security.
- Demonstrated knowledge of security regulations/procedures and OSHA regulations; demonstrated knowledge of CalOSHA regulations a plus.
- Ability to manage priorities and workflow and handle multiple projects/deadlines; have versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm
- Ability to accurately complete and maintain detailed forms and reports.
- Ability to accurately interpret and implement complex laws, regulations and/or policies.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with an ability to deal effectively with a diversity of individuals at all organizational levels.
- Demonstrated good judgement with the ability to make timely and sound decisions
- Demonstrated competence in reacting timely to and handling emergencies.
- Position requires walking and standing most of the work day, and ability to exert well-paced mobility for the entire work day.
- Must be able to stand, walk, handle objects and tools, stoop, bend, kneel, reach with hands and arms.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs, with regular lifting and moving of items up to 10 pounds.
- Must be 18 years or older
- Must be able to handle extreme weather conditions, including high outdoor temperatures
- Must be able to work a flexible schedule, including holidays, nights and weekends
