Skylo’s direct-to-device service is now live on millions of activated devices across five continents, with more than 60 million square kilometers of coverage, in partnership with multiple satellite operators, mobile network operators (MNOs), Tier-1 chipset makers, and OEMs. Devices connected over satellite are managed and served by Skylo's commercial NTN vRAN, featuring a 3GPP standards-based cloud-native base station and core. Skylo provides anywhere, anytime connectivity solution that seamlessly roams between terrestrial and satellite networks. Our focus is on enabling connected services for people outdoors and connected workflows across three main verticals: mass-market consumer devices, automotive, and industrial IoT.

This role is located Mountain View, CA where we are onsite 3 days a week in office. 

Summary Of How You Will Impact Skylo

Skylo is hiring a Senior Manager of Business Development to help fulfill Skylo’s mission of making satellite connectivity available to all. This individual will play a crucial role in maximizing the value of existing alliances, driving revenue growth through strategic account management, and selectively securing new partnerships that complement the current portfolio. A balance of maintaining and growing existing business alongside targeted new client acquisition is essential. This role requires a highly motivated self-starter with exceptional relationship management, negotiation, and strategic thinking skills.

How You Will Contribute 

  • Strategic Partnership Management:

    • Cultivate and expand relationships with existing global carrier, satellite operator, and technology partners in the NTN and IoT space, focusing on maximizing revenue and deepening collaboration.
    • Proactively identify opportunities to enhance existing partnerships, including upselling, cross-selling, and joint go-to-market initiatives.
    • Negotiate and manage partnership agreements, amendments, and renewals, ensuring alignment with company objectives and optimizing value for both parties.
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for key partners, addressing their needs and ensuring their satisfaction.
    • Monitor partner performance, identify areas for improvement, and develop strategies to optimize partnership outcomes.

    Business Development - NTN Services (Existing & New):

    • Manage and grow existing NTN service accounts, focusing on increasing revenue and expanding service adoption.
    • Identify and pursue select new business opportunities within the NTN services sector that strategically align with the existing partner ecosystem.
    • Develop a deep understanding of existing client needs and tailor solutions to address their specific requirements.
    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key decision-makers within existing and target accounts.

    Business Development - IoT (Existing & New):

    • Manage and expand existing IoT partnerships, focusing on driving adoption of satellite-enabled connectivity solutions with existing and prospective MVNO partners.
    • Identify and pursue select new IoT opportunities that leverage existing partnerships and complement the current product portfolio.
    • Develop a strong understanding of customer needs and market trends in the IoT space, particularly as they relate to existing partners.
    • Collaborate with internal teams to develop and deliver tailored IoT solutions for both existing and new clients.

    Market Intelligence & Strategy:

    • Stay informed about industry trends, competitive landscape, and regulatory developments in the NTN, IoT, and global carrier markets, with a focus on their impact on existing partnerships.
    • Provide insights and recommendations to senior management regarding opportunities to leverage existing partnerships for growth.

    Channel Marketing & Events:

    • Work closely with the marketing team to develop and execute channel promotions and events that support both existing partner engagement and targeted new client acquisition.
    • Ensure that these initiatives are aligned with the overall business development strategy and support the company's revenue goals, with a focus on maximizing existing partnerships.

What We Look For 

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering, telecommunications, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in business development, sales, or strategic partnerships within the telecommunications, satellite, or IoT industries, with a demonstrable focus on account management and partnership growth.
  • Demonstrated success in managing and expanding existing partnerships, as well as selectively securing new ones.
  • Understanding of NTN technologies, satellite communication systems, and IoT applications.
  • Experience in negotiating and managing contracts, agreements, and renewals.
  • Strong understanding of sales and marketing principles, particularly as they relate to account management and partner development.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and presentation skills.
  • Experience working with international partners and navigating diverse regulatory environments is a plus.
  • Experience with CRM software and sales tools is a plus.
  • Up to 30% travel will be required for this position.

Additional information

The compensation range for this position is $160,000–$200,000, and the role is eligible for sales commission. This range reflects the low and high end of the range Skylo reasonably and generally expects to pay the hired candidate in this role.
