About the Bobby Tables Team & The Role

The Bobby Tables team builds and maintains Smartly’s core reporting engine—an online analytical processing (OLAP) system that ingests and aggregates billions of data points across various ad channels. This system is mission-critical, providing advertisers with real-time insights and enabling campaign optimization at scale.

As a Senior Engineer, you will:

• Lead architectural improvements to ensure scalability and efficiency in our reporting infrastructure.
• Optimize high-performance data processing, working with large datasets and complex queries.
• Develop robust APIs and data integrations for seamless data exchange.
• Improve data visualization tools, making reporting more intuitive and actionable.
• Mentor and guide other engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and engineering leadership.

Technologies We Use

• Backend: TypeScript (Node.js), Ruby, PostgreSQL, Redis
• Frontend: TypeScript (React)

What We’re Looking For

• 5+ years of experience in building scalable distributed systems.
• Strong backend expertise.
• Proficiency in SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL is a plus).
• Experience with large-scale data processing and performance optimization.
• Ownership mindset – ability to lead initiatives, drive improvements, and mentor others.
• Already based in Helsinki and able to work in-office three days per week.
