Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated Summer Intern to join our team, where you will participate in the development of innovative gene therapy vectors and in the evaluation of diverse DNA manufacturing processes. This hands-on role will contribute directly to our research and development efforts and will offer the opportunity to gain practical experience in laboratory techniques such as plasmid production and in vitro DNA synthesis. 

How will this role contribute to the overall team goals and interface with others:

This role will play a key part in supporting the team’s goal of developing DNA vectors for our research pipeline. As a summer intern, you will work closely with experienced scientists and technicians in the lab, learning essential techniques on recombinant DNA production and molecular biology. Your work will directly interface with team members in vectors innovation, quality control, and laboratory operations, contributing to efficient project execution and deadlines. 

What You Will Accomplish:

  • Assist in plasmid production, in vitro DNA synthesis, and evaluation of different methods under the guidance of scientists and research associates. 
  • Conduct quality control testing of plasmids and synthesized DNA products. 
  • Maintain detailed lab records, including experimental setups, results, and observations. 
  • Participate in troubleshooting and optimization of methods. 
  • Support lab organization, inventory management, and general housekeeping tasks to maintain a productive work environment. 

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled in a degree program (undergraduate or graduate) in biology, molecular biology, biochemistry, or a related field. 
  • No prior professional experience is required, but laboratory experience or coursework related to molecular biology or biochemistry is preferred. 
  • Strong academic background with demonstrated interest in molecular biology and laboratory work. 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment and collaborate with others to achieve common goals. 

Technical Requirements and Skills:

  • Basic understanding of molecular biology principles and sterile techniques. 
  • Familiarity with laboratory equipment such as biosafety cabinets, pipets, incubators, centrifuges. 
  • Good attention to detail and accuracy when performing laboratory tasks. 
  • Strong organizational and record-keeping skills to ensure compliance with protocols and maintain lab safety. 
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, to report results and share observations with team members. 
  • A proactive and enthusiastic attitude towards learning new techniques and problem-solving in the laboratory. 

 

Compensation: The hourly rate for this position is $30.00/hr (pursuing MS), $35.00 (pursuing PharmD/PhD), and $27.00/hr (pursuing BS) USD.
