Position Summary
Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking an EHS & Facilities Operations Specialist to help oversee environmental, health, safety, and facility operations at our Fremont, CA location. This role plays a vital part in supporting a safe and efficient working environment for our growing teams by ensuring compliance with regulations, maintaining site readiness, and driving operational excellence in both safety and facility management.
The ideal candidate is hands-on, solutions-oriented, and experienced in EHS and facilities programs—especially within technical or engineering office environments. If you're passionate about creating great workplaces, proactively managing vendor and site operations, and ensuring workplace safety, this is the role for you.
Job Responsibilities
- Support day-to-day EHS and facilities operations at the Fremont site, including workplace inspections, incident reporting, and corrective actions.
- Monitor and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal environmental health and safety regulations.
- Maintain required documentation and records for audits, inspections, and internal reporting.
- Coordinate vendor relationships and service providers for maintenance, cleaning, waste management, utilities, and repairs.
- Assist in the implementation of safety training, emergency procedures, and ergonomics programs for employees and visitors.
- Support facilities readiness, moves, and changes—including space planning, furniture coordination, and equipment installations.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with IT, security, HR, and operations teams to ensure seamless site support and employee onboarding.
- Conduct routine workplace checks and maintain supplies, signage, first-aid kits, and safety-related equipment.
- Serve as a point of contact for EHS or facilities-related issues and escalate as appropriate to corporate leadership.
- Participate in sustainability and energy management efforts as part of the site operations roadmap.
Required Qualifications for Position
- 3+ years of experience in EHS, facilities management, or workplace operations, preferably in a corporate, engineering, or technical environment.
- Working knowledge of EHS regulations (OSHA, Cal/OSHA, EPA) and facility maintenance best practices.
- Experience coordinating vendors and managing onsite contractors or service providers.
- Excellent organizational and problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently.
- Strong communication skills and a customer-service orientation.
- Proficiency with Google Workspace, Microsoft Office, and workplace software systems.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Certifications such as OSHA 30, First Aid/CPR, or relevant EHS/facilities credentials.
- Experience supporting a fast-growing team or startup-like environment.
- Knowledge of access control, emergency systems, and physical security protocols.
- Background working in EV, manufacturing, or advanced mobility companies.

- Work Arrangement: This is an on-site role based in Fremont, CA.
- Travel Requirements: Minimal, though occasional travel to other SHMA sites may be required.

The anticipated annual base salary for this position is $90,000-$98,000. This range does not include any other compensation components or other benefits that an individual may be eligible for. The actual base salary offered depends on a variety of factors, which may include as applicable, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, specific and unique skills, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and the location in which the applicant lives and/or from which they will be performing the job.
