Position Summary
Sony Honda Mobility of America (SHMA) is seeking an IVI-Centric (In-Vehicle Infotainment) Software-Defined Vehicle (SDV) Diagnostics Engineer to accelerate bug-fix cycles for our Android Automotive–based AFEELA cockpit. Your mission will be to transform field-collected telemetry into clear, actionable defect reports for engineering teams.
In this multifaceted role, you’ll triage complex issues across vehicle, mobile, and cloud boundaries—pinpointing the most likely fault layer—then validate findings via reproduction on IVI benches and test vehicles. You’ll work across hardware, QNX, Linux, Android, and connected infotainment peripherals, leveraging your deep diagnostic expertise in Android Automotive internals to isolate root causes and drive fixes faster.
The ideal candidate is a T-shaped log analysis expert—broad enough to align multi-domain logs end-to-end, and deep enough to identify and explain IVI-specific defects with concrete evidence.
Job Responsibilities
- Conduct end-to-end triage of In-Vehicle Infotainment (IVI) issues across vehicle, mobile, and cloud boundaries to identify the most probable fault domain.
- Ingest and time-sync logs from Android, QNX, network traces, and user interactions; extract relevant insights and attach to Jira tickets.
- Reproduce customer-reported symptoms on IVI benches and test vehicles; capture validation data for engineering review.
- Develop tools and dashboards for automated log analysis, anomaly detection, and trend reporting.
- Improve triage workflows by refining Jira templates, enhancing observability, and standardizing playbooks.
- Summarize findings in clear, actionable terms to support engineering teams in root cause analysis.
Required Qualifications for Position
- B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or related technical field.
- 4+ years of experience debugging embedded, Linux, or Android systems, including at least 2 years working with Android Automotive or AOSP platforms.
- Proven ability to analyze Android/QNX crash dumps, logcat output, and system logs.
- Deep understanding of Android internals (Binder IPC, HAL interfaces, media pipeline, system services).
- Experience diagnosing issues via Logcat and slog2.
- Strong Linux OS knowledge and familiarity with in-vehicle infotainment systems.
- Ability to correlate telemetry across Android, QNX, and hardware layers.
Preferred Qualifications for Position
- Proficiency with tracing tools such as Perfetto or QNX System Profiler.
- Experience in software configuration management and version tracking.
- Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and automated test environments.
- Ability to work with incomplete or noisy log data to identify actionable insights.
- Knowledge of CAN/LIN/Ethernet vehicle networks and ECU diagnostics.
