Senior Build Engineer

Sony Bend Studio, renowned creator of Days Gone, Uncharted: Golden Abyss, and Syphon Filter, is seeking outstanding talent to join our passionate and creative family in crafting our next high-profile AAA console title.

We are seeking a Senior Build and Integration Engineer, responsible for architecting, implementing, and maintaining the Bend Studio code and data build pipeline infrastructure and providing tooling and oversight of a regular cadence of large-codebase integration.

Responsibilities:

  • Solve problems with existing pipelines, focusing on simple, robust, and performant solutions.
  • Upgrade, evolve, and maintain existing infrastructure, including build server configurations, build scripts and the code and data pipelines.
  • Support build release and patching pipeline, build deployment tool suite, code integration, testing utilities, and packaging pipeline.
  • Continually integrate large multi-language code bases with minimal interruptions to the team.
  • Interface with everyone on the team: get to the bottom of simple and complex problems. Provide direct solutions.
  • Collaborate with IT to ensure a broad understanding of approaches and solutions.
  • Write clear, maintainable, portable, and highly functional scripts and code.
  • Test and document work produced.
  • Create and manage complex build branching schemes.
  • Implement and maintain effective reporting systems to facilitate team needs.
  • Independently undertake research prior to starting a new system or task to ensure implementation effectively meets defined goals.
  • Optimize toolchain systems to full advantage of target hardware and architecture.
  • Maintain a clear understanding of personal and team task lists and project milestones to ensure goals will be met from a scope, schedule or game-play perspective.
  • Clearly communicate updates and concerns to the Technical Director.
  • Present complex technical issues to both programmers and other less technical team members.

Requirements:

  • 3+ years industry experience or related experience.
  • Experience with one or more published titles.
  • Extensive experience with Python scripting (experience with C++ and C is a bonus).
  • B.S. in computer science, engineering or relevant curriculum.
  • Experience in a wide-range of game engine and toolchain systems (e.g., rendering pipelines, file IO, memory management, performance evaluation and tuning, input systems) is a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of production development tools including compilers, build tools, IDEs, CI/CD, source code, and asset control systems, and integration with 3D editing packages.
  • Extensive knowledge of Perforce.
  • Experience working with Git is a bonus.

At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.

Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

The estimated base pay range for this role is listed below.

$104,000 - $156,000 USD
