Senior Manager, Business & Legal Affairs

This role supports the music label’s business by handling contract negotiations and reviews, assisting with artist and commercial deals, and supporting digital and new business initiatives such as live events, endorsements, and partnerships. The position also ensures contracts, rights, and policies are properly managed and compliant, while working independently with minimal supervision. 

 

What You'll Do:

  • Negotiation, drafting and reviewing of deals and contracts (e.g., third party relationships, licenses-in and licenses-out);  
  • Assisting the business teams in various local artist contract negotiations and business transactions. 
  • Assisting in the direction and deal making for the Digital & New Business (such as concerts, live, endorsements, sponsorship) initiatives, business and licenses.  
  • Preparing and updating template form agreements and provisions to keep up with business and regulatory changes, etc.  
  • Updating and maintaining various internal contract database and artist rights systems.  
  • Advising on internal corporate restructuring and other merger & acquisition transactions; and preparing necessary transactional documents. 
  • Preparing and monitoring business affairs policies and guidelines (e.g., Business Practices, etc.) and implementing law-compliance reporting and statutory filings.  
  • Supervising litigations - hiring and managing external counsel, etc. 
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision. 

 

Who You Are:

  • Qualified lawyer in Indonesia is a plus.
  • Fluent in both spoken and written English and Bahasa Indonesia.
  • Familiar with intellectual property rights, media laws, and their commercial aspects.
  • Strong and solid contract drafting and negotiation skills.
  • 7 years or more post-qualified experience (PQE) in a law firm or in-house legal role, ideally within the media or entertainment industry.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Strong attention to detail and effective time management skills.
  • Adaptable and receptive to fast-changing business models.
  • Ability to work autonomously under pressure with a hands-on, “roll-up-the-sleeves” attitude, both independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to work independently while maintaining clear communication with supervisors and internal/external stakeholders.
  • Good legal research skills.
  • Passion for the music and entertainment industry.
  • A strong team player.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with teams from diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with remote teams.
