Look Development Artist

This position works to create final look developed assets and lighting setups for distribution into the production pipeline. He or she will be required to write and/or modify custom Renderman shaders, define standard render passes, and work closely with Lead Lighting TD's and supervisors to ensure that all assets work within the scope of lighting & color pipeline requirements. 

Responsibilities:

  • Work closely with texture artists to create necessary texture maps for application to creatures, props and environments
  • Tasked with modifying shader parameters to realize the desired look for production integration.
  • Assist in developing standard lighting rigs & setups for verifying aspects of look development.
  • Work with a team of artists in a hands-on capacity to ensure technically and artistically proper implementation of look developed assets.
  • Keep supervisors apprised of issues arising in pre-production and shot production and offer creative solutions to those issues.


Requirements:

  • Should have a strong technical and artist background
  • Arnold and Katana experience preferred but other production packages acceptable
  • Working knowledge of Nuke a plus
  • Linux and scripting ability in relevant languages including MEL, Perl and Python
  • Minimum requirement of 7+ years production experience or feature film experience preferred

The anticipated base salary for an Associate position is $29.09 to $39.98/hr and for an Intermediate position is $41.20 - $59.16/hr. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.

Please note that you must be able to provide a demo reel that illustrates your relevant artistic and technical experience that also includes the nuances for this specific role.
