The Sony Pictures Imageworks Production Finance team is seeking a talented Senior Financial Analyst who can work towards the bigger goals of the organization while having the ability to maintain focus on the smaller elements of the big picture. This is an exciting Finance role that combines finance and production/operational functions with focus on financial analyses. Finance Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist with production tax credit audits and work closely with Imageworks' People and Organization (P&O) team on the British Columbia, Quebec, and Ontario Residency Tracking tool and perform stress tests to ensure the best production tax credit results
- Conduct regular vendor assessment and review of studio production spend for tax credit eligibility in Canada (Quebec). This entails regular quarterly review meetings with tax consultants.
- Provide recommendation(s) to ensure the studio is prepped for the best tax credit claim submission
- Track and review overhead spend, including setting up vendors, invoice payment processing, and ensure any COS related expenses are reclassified to projects
- Audit of monthly procurement card statements to ensure adherence to Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) policy
- Consolidate, analyze, and summarize the monthly financial results for the Company against Forecast/Budget with variance explanations to present to Senior Management:
- Consolidated income statement
- Gross Profit by project summary
- Summary Overhead SG&A, Production SG&A, and detailed headcount report
- Systems, Development, Procs & Disks detail by project and recoupment analysis
Production Support and Analysis:
- Prepare monthly Overhead project reporting and Artist GAP time analysis across all cost centers
- Support Imageworks with artist labour tracking and analysis against projects
- Prepare and review production journal entries for reclassification of expenses, weekly production fees, and general month-end project related journal entries
- Provide project management/accounting support to Imageworks Technology team for various ongoing technology initiatives, including compile and track capital investment actuals against Budget/Forecast
- Manage ongoing production capital investment projects, including studio builds in all locations
- Prepare monthly sales and use tax reporting submission to corporate tax
- Assist with ad hoc presentation decks and special projects
Production Project Accounting and Systems Data Maintenance:
- Review monthly Vancouver payroll register to ensure accurate and timely payroll postings to projects
- Perform weekly update of artist rate cards as well as ad hoc ratecard analysis as needed by production
- Update and maintain various SAP labour and rate tables, including correcting weekly payroll errors
- Become the expert with internal labour tracking systems (UKG and Timekeeper), including providing labour tracking reports and troubleshooting timecard errors to ensure accurate financial reporting
- Maintain WBS project listing for US and Canada and other data tables
- Provide guidance and support to local Payroll Administrator
- This position entails ongoing daily communication with various productions, SPE finance, technology, legal, tax, P&O, payroll contacts, and other 3rd party contacts
- Run ad hoc analyses and reporting for leadership as needed
Education, Experience and Skills Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
- 2-4 years of relevant accounting/finance experience (project accounting preferred)
- Excellent project management, organizational, decision-making, and problem-solving skills
- Ability to prioritize effectively and meet all deadlines
- Ability to successfully communicate with executive leadership and with cross-functional teams
- Possess a “can-do” attitude for all situations, no task too big or too small to handle

- Advanced MS Excel/PowerPoint preferred

The anticipated base salary for this position is $43.27- $48.08/hr CAD. Benefits are per company policy: which include healthcare, tuition reimbursement, RRSP's, Sick and Vacation leave, standard increases as applicable. The actual base salary offered will depend on a variety of factors, including without limitation, the qualifications of the individual applicant for the position, years of relevant experience, level of education attained, certifications or other professional licenses held, and if applicable, the location of the position.
