Intro:
StackAdapt is a self-serve advertising platform specializing in multi-channel solutions. We are a hub of innovation, imagination, and creativity.
We have an exciting opportunity in the Enterprise Data Office (EDO). Reporting to the Staff Enterprise Data Warehouse Architect, you will play a critical role in building and maturing our data ecosystem. Unlike traditional data engineering roles that focus solely on moving data, this role is specifically designed for a data warehouse expert who understands the architectural nuances of building a scalable "Single Version of the Truth" in an enterprise environment.
What you'll be doing:
This role is responsible for the end-to-end lifecycle of data within the Snowflake ecosystem, focusing on both ingestion and complex transformation pipelines.
- Hybrid Pipeline Development: Design and build data pipelines using a "best tool for the job" approach—leveraging both visual ETL tools and custom code.
- End-to-End Engineering: Manage the full flow of data, from initial ingestion (sucking data into the warehouse) to complex downstream transformations.
- EDW Architecture: Work closely with the Staff Architect to translate business requirements into holistic, reliable, and reusable ETL solutions that go beyond simple "A to B" data movement.
- Technical Artifacts: Analyze and produce Source-to-Target Mapping (STM) documents, logical/physical data models, and architecture diagrams.
- Data Integrity: Standardize and conform disparate data sources (RDBMS, APIs, JSON, Parquet) into a structured Enterprise Data Warehouse environment.
- Operational Excellence: Provide day-to-day support by monitoring alerts and troubleshooting production pipeline issues to ensure business SLAs are met.
- Mentorship: Coach junior developers on the nuances of data warehousing versus traditional database management.
What you’ll bring to the table:
Monty is looking for a "Unicorn" candidate who bridges the gap between traditional ETL and modern data coding.
- Experience: Minimum 6–8+ years of hands-on experience specifically within an Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) environment.
- The Hybrid Skillset: Proven track record of building pipelines using BOTH custom code (Python, Scala, or Java) AND enterprise ETL tools (e.g., Coalesce, Informatica, DataStage, or Talend).
- Architectural Literacy: Deep understanding of data warehousing fundamentals, including Kimball vs. Inmon, Medallion Architecture, Dimensional Modeling, and SCDs (Slowly Changing Dimensions).
- Platform Expertise: Hands-on experience with Snowflake (ideally used as a Data Warehouse, not just a standard database).
- Cloud Proficiency: Experience with at least one major cloud provider (AWS, Azure, or GCP). Candidates with multi-cloud exposure are highly preferred.
- Communication: Ability to articulate the "Pros and Cons" of different technical approaches (e.g., when to use code vs. when to use a tool) to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Tenure: A proven history of stability and commitment to projects; we are looking for builders who stay to see their architecture succeed.
