Associate, Growth Marketing, Retention
About This Role
Strava is the app for active people. With over 150 million athletes in more than 185 countries, Strava is where connection, motivation, and personal bests thrive. No matter your activity, gear, or goals, we help you find your crew, crush your milestones, and keep moving forward. Our mission is simple: to motivate people to live their best active lives. We believe in the power of movement to connect and drive people forward.
Lifecycle marketing is a key part of that mission. We’re looking for an Associate Retention Marketer to join our Growth Marketing team to help activate, engage, and retain our diverse user base. You’ll craft and execute personalized, data-informed campaigns that improve the athlete experience and drive measurable business outcomes. Working closely with Product, Design, Partnerships, and other teams across Strava, you’ll help test, iterate, and scale experiments that deepen engagement and foster long-term retention.
You Will Be Successful Here By:
- Driving Results with a Growth Mindset: You’re curious, proactive, and focused on impact. You seek out opportunities, solve problems, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Being Data-Driven: You use data to inform decisions, identify opportunities, and continuously optimize for performance.
- Collaborating Cross-Functionally: You communicate clearly and work seamlessly across teams to launch high-quality campaigns.
- Thriving Through Change: You adapt quickly, learn on the fly, and adjust strategies as company goals evolve.
We follow a flexible hybrid model that generally translates to around half your time on-site in our San Francisco office —roughly three days per week.
What You’ll Do:
- Own the User Lifecycle: Execute and optimize campaigns across email, push, and in-app channels to drive activation, engagement, and retention.
- Deliver Personalized Experiences: Use segmentation and behavioral data to craft timely, relevant messaging that resonates with our diverse user base.
- Test, Learn, and Scale: Design A/B tests, analyze results, and apply insights to future campaigns. Drive a structured learning agenda that improves performance across the funnel.
- Collaborate for High-Impact Execution: Partner with Product, PMM, Creative, and external agencies to build effective campaigns and user journeys.
- Report on Results: Track and share performance, learnings, and insights that inform broader strategy and roadmap planning.
What You’ll Bring to the Team:
- 1–3 years of experience in growth or lifecycle marketing, ideally working with owned media (email, push, in-app)
- A data-driven mindset with experience designing and analyzing A/B tests
- Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills
- Strong communication skills and comfort working cross-functionally
- Ability to manage competing priorities and execute with support from your manager
- A positive, collaborative attitude and a willingness to roll up your sleeves
What would be ideal, but not required?
- Experience working with dynamic HTML email templates - ability to code basic HTML
- Experience running email & push marketing programs across triggers, blast campaigns, and transactional messaging is preferred
- Understanding of creative best practices for email design and copy
- Iterable and Tableau experience is nice to have
