Retirement Plan Administrator

Position Summary

Strongpoint Partners is seeking an experienced Retirement Plan Administrator to manage a portfolio of retirement plan clients and provide high-quality administration, compliance, and client service.

In this role, you will serve as a primary point of contact for an assigned caseload of approximately 70–80 retirement plans, helping clients navigate annual plan administration, compliance testing, government filings, and regulatory requirements. You’ll work closely with internal teams and clients to resolve questions, meet important deadlines, and ensure plans remain compliant with IRS and Department of Labor requirements.

The ideal candidate has strong retirement plan administration experience, a solid understanding of ERISA and qualified retirement plan regulations, and the ability to manage multiple client relationships while delivering responsive, knowledgeable service.

Key Responsibilities

Client Relationship Management

  • Manage and maintain relationships for an assigned caseload of approximately 70–80 retirement plan clients.

  • Provide timely, high-quality customer service, including proactive problem-solving and issue resolution.

  • Serve as a trusted resource for clients regarding retirement plan administration and compliance matters.

  • Build strong client relationships that support high levels of client satisfaction and retention.

  • Own the stewardship of assigned client relationships and ensure consistent follow-through on client needs and commitments.

  • Communicate clearly and professionally with clients through both verbal and written communication.

Plan Administration & Compliance

  • Manage all aspects of annual retirement plan administration, including compliance testing, government forms, and valuation packages.

  • Perform and/or review annual compliance testing, including ADP/ACP, Top Heavy, 410(b), 415, 401(a)(4), 401(s), deductibility, and 402(g) testing, as applicable.

  • Review, prepare, and help ensure the timely filing of Form 5500 for assigned plans.

  • Assist clients in meeting applicable IRS and Department of Labor deadlines for qualified retirement plans.

  • Review participant distribution and loan requests and support internal distribution and loan teams with compliance-related questions.

  • Maintain accurate and complete plan records and documentation.

Plan Design & Regulatory Support

  • Partner with the plan documents team to address plan design and document-related questions.

  • Apply knowledge of IRS, Department of Labor, and ERISA requirements when advising clients and supporting plan administration.

  • Maintain current knowledge of retirement plan legislation and proposed regulatory changes through self-study, industry resources, and company-sponsored training.

  • Assist with IRS and Department of Labor audits when assigned plans are selected for review.

  • Support external auditors when a plan is subject to an annual plan audit.

Team Collaboration

  • Collaborate with internal teams to resolve client and plan administration issues efficiently.

  • Participate in staff meetings, training sessions, and professional development opportunities as requested.

  • Contribute to a team-oriented environment by assisting colleagues and supporting broader departmental needs.

  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Experience administering qualified retirement plans in a TPA, recordkeeping, or retirement services environment.

  • Working knowledge of ERISA, IRS, and Department of Labor regulations related to qualified retirement plans.

  • Experience performing or reviewing retirement plan compliance testing and Form 5500 filings.

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent attention to detail.

  • Ability to independently manage a high-volume caseload while balancing competing priorities and deadlines.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with a client-service mindset.

  • Ability to collaborate effectively across teams and build strong relationships with clients and colleagues.

  • Proficiency with retirement plan administration systems and Microsoft Office applications.

  • Industry credentials such as QKA, QPA, or equivalent retirement plan designation are a plus.

 

Compensation

The anticipated base salary range for this position is $90,000–$93,000 annually. Actual compensation will be determined based on factors including experience, qualifications, skills, and geographic location.
