CPU/AI Workload Analysis Intern

As a CPU/AI Workload Analysis Intern, you will collaborate with experienced CPU/NPU designers and performance architects in developing and optimizing world-class CPU and AI accelerator products. Your role will involve conducting deep research into emerging CPU/AI workloads, analyzing how their characteristics impact CPU and AI accelerator designs, and proposing innovative solutions to optimize workload performance on target hardware.
This internship can be based on-site in Tenstorrent’s Santa Clara, Austin, Boston, or Toronto (Canada) offices, or remotely for truly exceptional candidates.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to stay up-to-date on the latest advancements in CPU/AI application development, workload characterization, and performance analysis, as well as CPU/NPU performance and power modeling.
- Design and develop performance profiling and visualization tools and frameworks for CPU/AI workloads.
- Enable and optimize key CPU/AI workloads on the company’s hardware.
- Participate in workload characterization, identifying performance bottlenecks, and providing performance optimization solutions.
- Perform workload reduction to facilitate effective performance modeling.
- Contribute to the automation of workload profiling and analysis to streamline production processes.
- If possible and permitted, publish and/or patent research findings generated during the internship.
Experience & Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Computer Architecture, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field, with a strong publication record.
- Solid understanding of computer organization and architecture as well as digital logic design.
- Hands-on experience with Linux OS and performance/power profiling tools.
- Strong background in workload enablement, characterization, reduction and optimization.
- Proficiency in programming languages, including Shell Scripting, Python, and C++ (STL and/or BOOST C++).
- Experience with deep learning frameworks such as PyTorch.
Compensation for all interns at Tenstorrent ranges from $50/hr - $70/hr including base and variable compensation targets. Experience, skills, education, background and location all impact the actual offer made.
