Job brief:
The Commerce Writer Intern at The Weather Company will gain valuable hands-on experience in the dynamic field of commerce content and affiliate marketing. In this role, you'll contribute to Atmosphere by The Weather Channel, our dedicated product review and deals vertical. This internship offers an immersive learning opportunity where you'll develop skills in creating compelling product content, understanding seasonal commerce strategies, and analyzing performance metrics that drive business decisions while contributing to a respected media brand. You'll work alongside experienced professionals who will guide you through the complete content creation lifecycle, from concept to publication.
The impact you'll make:
- Create engaging commerce content, including product reviews, comparison guides, deal roundups, and seasonal shopping recommendations
- Learn and apply SEO best practices to optimize content discoverability and performance
- Conduct thorough product research to ensure accurate, helpful, and relevant information for readers
- Develop skills in digital content production, including headline writing, image selection, and CMS publishing
- Collaborate with editors, marketing teams, and subject matter experts on content strategy
- Build proficiency in content analytics, tracking key performance indicators, including page views, engagement metrics, and affiliate conversion rates
- Assist with special commerce projects during major shopping events and holiday seasons
- Participate in content brainstorming sessions and pitch original ideas for product coverage
What you've accomplished:
- Current enrollment in or recent completion of a degree program in Journalism, Communications, Marketing, English, ora related field
- Genuine enthusiasm for consumer products, shopping trends, and helping readers make informed purchasing decisions
- Strong writing skills with the ability to craft clear, engaging, and persuasive content
- Basic understanding of digital media, e-commerce, or online marketing concepts
- Excellent research abilities and attention to detail
- Self-motivated with the capacity to work both independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines effectively
- Interest in analytics and data-driven content strategy
- Familiarity with content management systems and basic photo editing is a plus
- Creative problem-solving skills and willingness to learn new technologies and processes
