DIRECT REPORTS: Yes; direct reports include Engineering teams and Quality teams.
Position Summary
This position is responsible for overseeing ICS’s Quality Management System, maintaining compliance with the Quality Manual and AS9100, and managing quality control and assurance personnel. The role requires advanced leadership abilities to drive engineering and exceptional quality to serve our customers in Aerospace, Defense, Medical, Semiconductor Equipment, and Industrial markets. Success in this role involves empowering and motivating individuals to create a sense of ownership within the manufacturing team, thereby increasing productivity. The role is expected to drive company’s objectives by establishing and executing strategies across various functions to achieve those objectives
This role requires working closely with our founder to evaluate customer needs and make appropriate recommendations for in-line and custom-designed products. The incumbent will translate customer application needs into specific capabilities of the supply base, generating sales revenue through custom products while also acting as a technical advisor. Additionally, the position involves managing direct reports, offering career development opportunities, and providing coaching to enhance team capabilities and efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical preferred).
Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Quality Engineering and Management.
- Five or more years of work experience in Aerospace & Defense.
Knowledge:
- Working knowledge of AS9100 compliance and Quality Management Systems.
- Background in Lean/Six Sigma principles preferred.
- Complete understanding of Engineering Change Control processes.
- Inter-Connect Product Knowledge preferred.
- Familiarity with supplier capabilities, lead times, and pricing considerations.
Skills:
- Strong leadership and team management abilities.
- Excellent organizational and writing skills for documentation and project management.
- Strong interpersonal skills for working with suppliers, sales teams, and customers.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and CAD software.
- Ability to handle conference calls and customer interactions independently.
- Track record of improving team performance and work practices through coaching.
- Results-oriented mindset with the ability to overcome barriers to success.
- Ability to develop innovative design solutions for interconnect applications.
Job Responsibilities
Quality Management Systems
- Maintain and enhance the QMS to ensure ongoing compliance with AS9100 standards.
- Develop and implement quality policies, procedures, and work instructions aligned with aerospace and defense requirements.
- Oversee calibration of all measuring equipment within the organization.
- Coordinate, prepare for, and conduct Internal Audits in support of AS9100:D.
- Ensure compliance with NASA, FAA, DOD, and prime contractor specifications for Space and Defense applications.
Team Leadership
- Supervise and mentor quality control and engineering personnel, fostering a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
- Manage direct reports by providing guidance, performance reviews, and career development opportunities.
- Empower and motivate individuals by creating a sense of ownership within the manufacturing team.
- Maintain strong working relationships with direct reports to facilitate growth and efficiency in the department.
Compliance Certifications:
- Manage all compliance certifications related to manufacturing processes, quality standards, and material specifications.
- Review Nonconformance-Corrective Action Logs for completion and identify the need for corrective action.
Process Improvement
- Identify areas for process enhancements and implement solutions to improve product quality and operational efficiency.
- Drive a culture of continuous improvement.
- Work directly with suppliers to assess capabilities and develop unique interconnect solutions.
- Ensure product designs align with supplier capabilities to optimize lead times, quality, and pricing.
Customer Interaction
- Address customer quality concerns promptly and effectively, ensuring high levels of customer satisfaction.
- Work with Engineered Products key account managers to drive new business opportunities.
- Assist in identifying and developing repeatable custom products for the market.
Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain accurate quality records and prepare reports for management review.
- Collect and report on incoming, in-process, and final inspection results in support of the Management Review of the QMS.
Training
- Develop and deliver quality-related training programs to staff, promoting best practices and compliance awareness.
- Participate in new product development and Production Readiness Reviews to ensure proper quality assurance and control plans are in place before production begins.
Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required.
Internal and External Relationships
Internal Relationships: Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and sales to ensure high quality standards and efficient production. Act as a liaison for all quality-related matters in production.
External Relationships: Work directly with suppliers and customers to develop effective solutions.

Pay: $115,000-150,000 annually
