Position Summary 

The Manufacturing Manager is responsible for leading and overseeing all aspects of manufacturing, production planning, and operational efficiency within our aerospace, defense, and space-focused cable assembly and wire harness manufacturing facility. This role ensures the seamless execution of production schedules while maintaining compliance with AS9100 standards, customer requirements, and continuous improvement initiatives. The primary responsibility of this function is to manage the direct reports and work with the manufacturing team to streamline our production process. An additional responsibility is to drive a megatrend strategy for successful execution of the new business. This is done by working closely with our sales function as well as our customers to support the applications. The success of the position will be measured by an overall increase in EPD (Engineered Product) revenue, profit margins and cash conversion cycle as published by our parent company, Trexon.

 

Minimum Qualifications 

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree in Operations Management, Engineering, Business, or a related field (or equivalent experience).

Experience:

  • 7+ years of experience in operations or manufacturing management within the aerospace, defense, or space industries.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt certification (preferred).
  • Experience in managing government contracts and compliance requirements (preferred).

Knowledge:

  • Strong knowledge of AS9100, ISO 9001, and aerospace industry regulations.
  • Proficiency in ERP/MRP systems (Epicor preferred)
  • Experience with lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Familiarity with ITAR and DFARS regulations.
  • Understanding of government contract management and compliance requirements.

Skills:

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good people skills are needed to work successfully with Division Staff, Suppliers, Sales team and Customers.
  • Strong organizational and writing skills for documentation and project management.
  • Ability to work cross-functionally with engineering, quality, and sales teams.
  • Results-oriented mindset with the ability to overcome challenges to success.
  • Track record of improving team performance and work practices through coaching.
  • Financial acumen to monitor operational costs, support cash flow and budget planning, and assist with revenue forecasting.
  • Ability to drive efficiency, reduce rework, and foster a proactive problem-solving culture.
  • Advanced Excel skills (VLOOKUP, Pivot Tables, Data Analysis).

 

Job Responsibilities 

Production & Manufacturing Leadership:

  • Oversee day-to-day manufacturing operations, ensuring efficiency, quality, and on-time delivery.
  • Implement and monitor production schedules, aligning with customer demands and revenue goals.
  • Drive lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies to optimize processes.
  • Ensure proper resource allocation, labor utilization, and workflow efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the engineering and quality teams to resolve production issues and implement corrective actions.

Quality & Compliance:

  • Maintain adherence to AS9100, ISO 9001, and customer-specific quality standards.
  • Work closely with the Quality & Engineering teams to drive a zero-defect culture and reduce rework.
  • Support internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with regulatory and contractual obligations.

Financial & Revenue Forecasting:

  • Assist in monthly revenue forecasting and work closely with finance to support cash flow and budget planning.
  • Monitor and manage operational costs while driving cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Support pricing and cost analysis to align with strategic business goals.

Cross-Functional Collaboration:

  • Act as the key liaison between operations, sales, engineering, and quality to drive seamless execution.
  • Provide accurate and timely data to the sales team for open order reports and customer updates.
  • Ensure strong communication across departments to align production capacity with sales forecasts.

Leadership & Team Development:

  • Lead and mentor a team of production supervisors and staff, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
  • Ensure proper training, skills development, and career growth opportunities for employees.
  • Promote a proactive, problem-solving mindset and encourage ownership at all levels of the organization.

 Other responsibilities, initiatives and ad-hoc projects as required. 

 

Internal and External Relationships

Internal Relationships: Collaborate closely with manufacturing teams and sales to ensure high quality standards and efficient production. Act as a liaison for all quality-related matters in production.

External Relationships: Work directly with suppliers and customers to develop effective solutions.

Pay: $90,000-125,000 annually
