Automation Engineering Manager

About the Role:
Tubi is seeking a visionary Automation Testing Manager to lead the development and execution of testing strategies that ensure our world-class video-on-demand service meets the highest quality standards. In this role, you will collaborate with QA, development, and product teams to drive automation initiatives, enhance test coverage, and improve efficiency across a variety of platforms, including web, mobile, and OTT. You’ll play a key role in building and maintaining robust automation frameworks, optimizing testing processes, and mentoring a talented team of automation testing engineers. Responsibilities:
1. Test Strategy & Planning
- Develop a comprehensive automation testing strategy aligned with Tubi's streaming architecture and business needs
- Design and optimize automation testing processes, tools, and standards to ensure high-quality delivery across development and production
- Focus on specialized testing strategies for core features like video playback and recommendation algorithms
2. Automation Testing System Development
- Lead the creation and maintenance of cross-platform automation testing frameworks (web, iOS, Android, smart TV)
- Write and optimize automated test cases (API, UI, performance) to enhance coverage and efficiency
- Continuously enhance existing automation tools and integrate advanced industry solutions to improve workflows
- Develop and optimize testing tools tailored to Tubi's business scenarios, promoting intelligent and efficient testing processes
3. Team Management & Collaboration
- Manage and mentor the automation testing team, setting goals, allocating tasks, and tracking progress
- Collaborate with engineering, product, and operations teams to clarify testing requirements and address technical risks
- Foster agile development collaboration to enable rapid iteration and deployment
- Regularly report product quality status and drive data-driven improvement plans based on defect analysis and quality reviews
Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Over 10 years of experience in software testing, with at least 3 years of experience leading testing projects
- Familiar with mainstream automation testing frameworks (e.g., Selenium, Appium, Puppeteer, TestNG, PyTest, Jest, Allure) and knowledgeable about precision testing and performance testing methodologies
- Proficient in at least one programming language (e.g., Java, Javascript or Python)
- Deep understanding of the architecture and lifecycle management of client and server applications
- Proficient in CI/CD toolchains (e.g., Jenkins, GitHub Actions) and version control systems (e.g., Git)
- Excellent English communication skills, with the ability to act as a bridge in cross-team collaboration
- Strong product awareness, capable of proposing and implementing effective product quality solutions
- Solid problem-solving skills and resilience, capable of handling complex project requirements efficiently
Preferred Qualifications:
- Led the implementation of large-scale automation testing framework solutions
- Experienced in multi-platform testing across devices (Web, Mobile, Smart TV)
- Proficient in distributed system testing methodologies or large-scale performance testing
- Possesses team management and resource coordination experience
- Prior experience in the streaming industry
