Two Six Technologies is growing and we are looking for an IT Specialist to join our team. You will work in a fast paced, research driven organization to support help desk functions, manage inventory, support operating system and software installations, and facilitate workspace equipment setup. You will have a customer first approach to support, enjoy problem solving and be flexible with ever changing support needs.

This position works out of our Arlington, VA office. Which is at the Ballston metro with garage access.

What You’ll Do:

  • Provide responsive and effective 1st and 2nd tier technical support for employees and departments across the company, resolving issues directly or escalating to other IT team members when necessary.
  • Triage incoming requests, using sound technical judgment to troubleshoot or assign requests to the right resources within IT.
  • Maintain accurate records in our asset management system (Snipe), keeping track of new equipment, updates, and assisting with inventory audits.
  • Deploy and configure operating systems, software, and drivers on laptops and workstations using our Mobile Device Management (MDM) tools.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and manufacturers for repairs or advanced support, managing these engagements to ensure minimal downtime.
  • Assist with on/offboarding tasks, including setting up and wiring desk equipment to support seamless employee transitions.
  • Keep our inventory and lab spaces clean, organized, and ready for quick access and effective use.
  • Manage and maintain user accounts, permissions, and access controls to ensure secure and seamless operations across systems.
  • Document issues and resolutions for our Knowledge Base (KB), creating clear and concise articles to empower users and streamline future troubleshooting.
  • Develop and manage workflows for the Atlassian Virtual Assistant, ensuring it effectively supports our team’s operational needs.

What You Will Need:

  • 1+ year of hands-on experience installing and configuring Windows, Linux, and macOS
  • 1+ year of experience in diagnosing and troubleshooting a variety of office tech issues
  • Solid experience with hardware upgrades and maintenance, including firmware updates, memory upgrades, and drive replacements
  • 1+ year of experience managing devices with MDM tools
  • Familiarity with storage technologies like LVM, RAID, and encryption solutions (LUKS, BitLocker, FileVault)
  • Competency in remote access tools and methods for efficient system support
  • A working understanding of networking basics, including TCP/IP, DHCP, and DNS
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Nice to Have:

  • Experience with device management tools like JAMF, Intune, SOTI, and/or Mosyle
  • Background in wireless networking technologies
  • A deeper understanding of networking fundamentals (routing, firewalls, NAT)
  • Certifications such as A+, Security+, Network+, or similar
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Experience with AWS
  • Experience with python, javascript, react
  • Experience working with APIs

Clearance Requirements:

  • Willingness and eligibility to obtain a high-level security clearance

The projected salary range listed for this position is annualized. This is a general guideline and not a guarantee of salary. Salary is one component of our total compensation package and the specific salary offered is determined by various factors, including, but not limited to education, experience, knowledge, skills, geographic location, as well as contract specific affordability and organizational requirements.

Salary Range

$74,900 - $151,700 USD
