Assembly Automation Lead - Saturday-Monday (10am - 10pm)

SUMMARY OF POSITION

The Assembly Automation Lead is responsible for operating semi-automated and fully automated assembly equipment while serving as a technical resource and lead operator for the Automation team. This role provides day-to-day guidance, supports training and onboarding, assists with troubleshooting and process improvements, and helps coordinate workflow to ensure safety, quality, productivity, and production goals are achieved.

The Automation Lead does not have formal supervisory responsibilities but serves as a subject matter expert and key resource for Automation Operators within the department.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Other duties may be assigned.

  • Operate and monitor semi-automated and fully automated assembly equipment.

  • Serve as a primary resource for Automation Operators regarding equipment operation, work instructions, and production processes.

  • Train, onboard, coach, and provide ongoing guidance to Automation Operators.

  • Assist with coordinating daily workflow and prioritizing production activities to meet production schedules and goals.

  • Support troubleshooting efforts and perform minor equipment adjustments and routine maintenance as appropriate.

  • Monitor product quality and assist with identifying and addressing quality concerns.

  • Perform inspections of components and finished products to verify compliance with established specifications.

  • Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance safety, quality, efficiency, and productivity.

  • Partner with Assembly Technicians, Engineering, Quality, and Production leadership to troubleshoot and resolve production issues.

  • Maintain accurate production records and communicate equipment concerns, downtime, quality issues, and other production-related information.

  • Support the implementation and sustainment of standardized work practices and continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment while promoting adherence to all safety requirements.

EDUCATION AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

  • 3+ years of experience in manufacturing, assembly, machine operation, automation, or a related production environment.

  • Demonstrated ability to train, coach, and provide guidance to others.

  • Strong working knowledge of automated manufacturing equipment and production processes.

  • Ability to handle small components and perform microscope-based work.

  • Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to read, interpret, and follow technical instructions, work instructions, and procedures.

  • Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.

  • Ability to prioritize work, adapt to changing production needs, and support production goals in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
